Life at Windian High (Part 2)

Chelsea was just one of the many students filing out of the gym as the bell rang to signal the end of sixth period. The stallion made her way over to her locker and began to shuffle around the essential books and papers in and out of her backpack as she considered what she'd need to carry home with her.

"English book, reading book," the stallion gave a snort of distaste as she placed said books in her bag. "Psychology book can stay, Magic Techniques book can stay..."

"Hey, I thought you were gonna let me borrow that book." Tym's grey muzzled poked over Chelsea's shoulder. The stallion rolled her eyes and shook her mane before turning to her friend.

"I have... six times... and the longest you've ever kept it to read is for three days..." Chelsea closed her locker and shouldered her pack as she noted Amber and Sabs walking up. The four girls started down the hall, heading towards Amber's locker. Sabs and Tym had already made stops at their own lockers, so they were all ready to go. Amber, however, hated lugging her backpack around during the day, and therefore just carried her books with her, keeping her bag in her locker, which was located closer to the front of the school, so it was usually the last stop the four girls made before heading home. As they rounded a corner in the hallway, Sabs, Tym, and Amber were all busy talking about the upcoming dance.

"I don't think we do dances here enough honestly." Amber twirled a curled strand of hair with her finger as she spoke. "I mean, the middle school I went to always had Social's every other Friday night."

"Yea, well that was Middle School." Tym rolled her eyes. "And we all know that High School is the last stop until you reach the," the wolf held her hands up and made quotation mark motions, "the "real world." So High School is trying to get us all conditioned to the "real world" by showing us how much it sucks and therefore High School itself must suck which means not many dances!" The wolf's tail was wagging at her own logic. Amber just rolled her eyes.

"I hate it when you make sense."

"Actually," Sabs flicked her braid over her shoulder and glanced at her friends. "I hate to say it but she's right. High School is like.... so boring... there's nothing to do! Cheezus, I mean some of the teachers are great, but other then that..."

"Yea, well-" Amber's words were suddenly interrupted by a bright flash of lightning that exploded from a nearby classroom. Immediatly, Sabs, Tym, and Amber all turned and started at Chelsea. The poor confused stallion just looked between all of her friends in wonder.

"What?"

"Whoa..." Tym headed over to the classroom she had seen the lightning flash appear from and peeked in through the window on the door. "Chel, I know you've been working on your lightning spells for a while, but it's really cool when you can set them off in another room like that!"

"Huh?" The stallion blinked in wonder. "What are you talking about?"

Sabs motioned over her shoulder with a jerk of her thumb. "There was a flash of lightning just now..."

"Didn't you notice?" Amber's wings ruffled lightly as she considered her friend in wonder. Chelsea just stared blankly at the two of them, causing the human and windian to exchange glances.

"You mean to tell me that you didn't even notice that bright flash a minute ago??? Cheezus, Chelsea! Where was your mind anyway?" Sabs' eyes flared a green fire as she looked at her friend in annoyed bewilderment.

"Hey!" Chelsea held up her hands in defense, shaking her mane. "Look, I work around the stuff all the time! I kinda become desensitized to it..."

"Yea but... still..." Tym's tail was wagging as she looked over at her friends. "That was something kinda hard to miss." The wolf turned and peered back into the classroom. She couldn't see much, due to the glare of the hall lights on the glass of the window, and the fact that the lights were off in the room. It wasn't until a sudden flicker of movement caught her attention that the wolf finally noticed something inside the room, and what she saw made her eyes go wide. "WHOA!"

"Huh?" Chelsea's head shot up and she looked over at the forestclan girl. "What? What is it?"

"Heh, it's nothing." Tym's tongue lolled out in a panting grin. "Vagger's room, I think a light blew or something, it looked cool." The grey wolf turned away from the door and headed back over to her friends. "Anyway, let's go, Chel's dad is gonna be fighting in just a little while, right? I wanna see what happens." Tym's tail was wagging as she spoke. Chelsea just glared at the wolf for a moment.

"Will you stop calling me Chel? You know, unlike you and Sabs, I have nothing wrong with my name! I don't need it shortened!"

"Sure you do! I'm Tym, she's Sabs, you can be Chel and Amber can be Amy! Or Amb... or.... Am.. or just A, or-"

"Tym," Sabs stared at her friend. "Shove it."

"Anyway girls," Amber tucked a twirl of hair behind her ear, "we need to get going." The group of four continued their way to Amber's locker, Amber and Sabs still talking excitedly about the upcoming dance. Chelsea continued to walk silently with them, while Tym, her tail wagging in amusement, thought about what she had seen in Vagger's classroom. The image of a light dragon apparently being absorbed into another student.

Wonder what that was all about... The wolf then nudged the stallion next to her with interest. This is gonna be something Chel's gonna want to hear about, that's for sure.
