Life at Windian High (Part 2)

Frank was dressed in a green t-shirt and a pair of blue jeans. He nearly made it out of the store before Brad stopped him.

"Uh huh..." Brad said with a chuckle. "It's just after sunset, and you're going out! Where to, Frank... C'mon..."

"You have to be nosy, don't you... Kate and I are going star gazing. That's all." Some time with Kate may help me as well...

"If you say so... See you tonight, okay?" Brad told his friend.

Frank nodded and starting walking to Kate's house.

I'm overstressing myself... I've gotta stop thinking about... that... but the song I sang today... Superman by Five for Fighting... It's me...

The Persona User made his way to Ms. Harlow's house and knocked on the door. Sure enough, Carrie Harlow opened the door.

"Oh! Hello Frank! Kate has been waiting for you! Won't you come in?" Ms. Harlow told the Persona User with a smile.

"Thank you, ma'am..." Frank replied. He entered the cozy little hut and noticed Kate sitting on the couch. When she saw Frank, she immediately shot up and nearly pounced him.

"Frank! It's good to see you!" Kate said as she hugged her boyfriend.

The Persona User smiled and returned the hug. "It's a nice night out... Ready to go?"

Kate nodded. She was going to say something, when Tellka came walking down the stairs.

"I'm going with you both." Tellka said as she batted an ear. Frank sighed and shook his head.

Everytime... it seems to fail...

"Tellka..." Kate said as her tail waved slowly. "We just want to be alone for awhile..."

"I said I'm coming with you! Do I have to repeat myself?" Tellka said with a bit of anger. Frank noticed that her tail was lashing about.

"How about this..." Kate said thoughtfully. "If you let us be alone tonight... I really, really, really, promise to spend more time practicing with you."

Tellka thought for a moment. "Okay Kate, if it's that important to you." The guardian then went back upstairs.

Frank blinked, before turning back to his girlfriend. "How did..."

Kate batted her eyelashes cutely. "Woren usually have a way of getting what they want..."

"ACK!!!" Frank stammered. "Kawaii Kate! Must... obey..."

Kate giggled at her boyfriend when he showed his weakness.

The Persona User shook his head. "Anyway... shall we?" Frank said as he offered an arm to Kate.

Kate smiled and took the offered arm, leaning close to Frank.

"I'll bring her home shortly, Ms. Harlow..." The Persona User said.

"All right... you two have a good time, okay?" The elderly Windian told the couple.

"We'll see you soon, Carrie." Kate said as she batted an ear.

Frank and Kate left, waving good-bye to Carrie. They slowly made their way to the park, happy in each other's company. Frank found an empty bench and sat down. Kate, on the other hand, made herself comfortable, by laying down and resting her head against Frank.

Both of them were looking skyward.

"It's a beautiful night, isn't it?" Frank said quietly.

The tip of Kate's tail flicked slowly. "It is, Frank. This is really nice..."

Frank and Kate slowly looked at the constellations, before he saw a shooting star.

"See that, Kate?" Frank said as he pointed at the shooting star. "Back home, if you saw a star doing that, you're supposed to make a wish..."

"Does the wish come true?" Kate asked innocently.

"Supposedly, yes." Frank replied. He looked at the star and closed his eyes for a moment. Beside him, Kate was purring in content.

"What did you wish for?" Kate said, looking up at him and flashing those innocent blue eyes of hers.

"Well... I know it can't come true... but here's to hoping. I wish this night wouldn't end..." Frank said as he gazed back at Kate.

Kate smiled again before looking at the sky with Frank.

"See those stars? I know what they are..." Kate said without removing her gaze from the sky. Finally, she lifted her head and looked at Frank. "They're fireflies!!!"

Frank looked at Kate and smiled.

She leaned back against Frank and purred again, before continuing. "I used to catch fireflies at dusk and Mom always told me to be sure to let them go, because they fly into the sky and become stars. So, if I kept them all, we'd have no stars..."

Frank smiled as he continued to gaze at the stars. "I see..."

Both of them continued to gaze intently.

"Frank..." Kate said quietly. "What's beyond the sky? Is it like another world, like when someone goes swimming in the ocean?" Kate asked innocently.

The Persona User stoked Kate's hair gently. He could still hear her purring.

"It might just be Kate... Who knows? It might just be..." Frank said quietly.

Kate smiled again at Frank and continued to look upward at the night sky.

Frank and Kate continued to watch the stars, enjoying the feeling of each others company.
