Life at Windian High (Part 2)

It was a stormy night in Windia. Ryan Chiba was in his room above The Tiger's Catch, staring out his window. He let out a sigh as he watched the drops of rain pelt the glass that was in front of him.

"Ladon..." Ryan said quietly as his tail waved back and forth. "Esor loved nights like this... Why..." The woren's ears drooped as he continued to watch the drops of rain splash against the streets of Windia.

There was a knock at the door to Ryan's room. The woren ignored it, still brooding from the events since he and Esor had broken up. The door creaked open slowly and a voice broke the light pitter-patter of rain splashing against the window of his room.

"Ryan?" Ellen said as she peeked her head into her "brother's" room. "Hey bro... Are you okay?"

Ryan didn't turn. The woren just continued to stare at the falling rain.

The Persona User let out a sigh and entered Ryan's room, slowly making her way to her brother's side. "Ryan..." Ellen said softly. Ryan slowly turned and noticed that she was wearing a set of silver silk pajamas and had her ponytail undone. The necklace that Alex had given her was still around her neck, but her usual neckerchief was gone.

Both "siblings" continued to stare out the window together, before Ellen decided to break the silence. "You're still thinking about her, aren't you?"

Ryan remained silent for a moment before he finally responded to his adopted sister. "I can't help it, sis..." The woren said quietly. Ellen looked closely at the woren and noticed that his eyes were red and puffy, like he had been crying. "Ellie... it hurts... it hurts so much..."

"Ryan..." Ellen said softly as a flash of lightning illuminated the room. "It wasn't meant to be... I'm sorry, bro... but... the way she had been treating you..."

"Ellen... I know..." Ryan said with a sigh. "Alex and Frank... they told me..." The woren's tail began to wave slowly as it was drooped, showing that he was in an extreme funk. "When I first met her... I thought... she was the one... Ladon...I was wrong Ellie..."

"Ryan..." Ellen said quietly. "You'll find someone... I'm sure of it."

"Frank and Alex told me the same thing..." Ryan replied as he turned back to the window, watching the small droplets of rain splash against the pane of glass. "Frank told me..." Ellen watched as her brother's ears flicked lightly and his tail was waving lightly. "That there is someone out there, waiting for a person like me to come along..."

"And you know what?" Ellen said as she placed a hand on her brother's shoulder. "He's right, Ryan. There's that someone out there, waiting for you..."

"Ellie..." Ryan said quietly. "But... but it hurts... it hurts... being alone..."

"Bro..." Ellen replied in a soft tone. "I know... and... I'm sorry... Ryan... please... try and get some sleep... Maybe tomorrow, at the dance... you'll find her... your place in the sun..."

Ellen offered a smile to her brother before leaving his room and shutting the door silently behind her. Ryan, however, just continued to stare at the rain.

"But... I'm alone... it hurts..." The woren said quietly. Ryan took a deep breath as he remembered a song that he had heard once before. In a slow, sad voice, the young woren began to sing, something that he rarely does, but can do rather well.

It's nothing, it's so normal you
Just stand there I could say so much
But I don't go there, cuz I don't want to
I was thinking if you were lonely
Maybe we could leave here and no one would know
At least not to the point that we would think so

Everyone here, knows everyone here is thinking about
Someone else...
It's best if we all keep it under our heads
I couldn't tell, if anyone here was feeling the way I do...
But I'm lonely now, and I don't know how
To get it back to good

This don't mean that, you own me
This ain't no good, in fact it's phony as hell
But things worked out just like you wanted to
If you see me out you don't know me
Try to turn your head, try to give me some room
To figure out just what I'm going to do

And everyone here, hates everyone here for doing just like
They do
It's best if we all keep this quiet instead
And I couldn't tell, why everyone here was doing me like
They do
But I'm sorry now, and I don't know how...
To get it back to good

Everyone here, is wondering what it's like to be with
Somebody else
Everyone here's to blame, everyone here
Gets caught up in the pleasure of pain, everyone hides
Shades of shame, but looking inside we're the same, we're
The same
And we're all grown now, but we don't know how
To get it back to good

Everyone here, knows everyone here is thinking 'bout
Somebody else
It's best if we all keep this under our heads
I couldn't tell, if anyone here was feeling the way I do
But it's over now, and I don't know how, it's over now
There's no getting back to good...

Ryan Chiba let out a sigh as he finished his song. For a few more moments, the woren continued to stare at the rain before retiring to his bed for the night. As Ryan closed his eyes, he sniffed back a few tears and finally went to sleep.
