Life at Windian High (Part 2)

For this bright morning in Torana, it seemed like just an ordinary day. Children and teens were awakening and getting ready to head off to their respective schools. However, while others were struggling to get out of bed, or choosing their outfits for the day, or wolfing down breakfast or even already heading towards the schools in hopes to start the day of early, down in the small town of Plainsfield just south of Windia, it was a different story...

*POUND POUND POUND*

"ALEX! Git yer furry behind OUT OF THERE!"

Now, some say there could be many reasons for the current situation at the Brandshire house hold. Certain people might argue that it was a cold morning and the water just felt nice. Other's may say that it was due to the dance later that night and that Alex's current placement was one of the best places to practice his vocals. Other's still with younger siblings may say he was just doing it to be annoying. But whatever the reason...

"DAD! Alex won't get out of the shower!!!!!!"

"TOOORAH, Toorah! Sing me your song!" The older Brandshire sibling's voice was heard from the other side of the door as Alex sang loudly, ignoring his sister. Diane shot a glare of death at the door of the bathroom, her tail twitching with utmost annoyance. With a light growl, the red-furred woren bolted from the the door and raced down the stairs, turning and heading quickly over to the downstairs bathroom.

Paul Brandshire was calmly sitting at the breakfast table eating a bagel and jam when he suddenly heard the toilet flush and the blood freezing yowl of a now frozen woren. He didn't even flinch and he still continued to calmly eat breakfast and listened to the noise of his daughter run back upstairs and continue to pound on the door.

"Get out, get OUT, GET OUT!" Diane's tail lashed wildly and her ears were just about pressed against her skull in irritation. "OUT!" She let out another growl as she listened to her brother start singing again. In a flash, she was back downstairs and into the bathroom.

Paul took a sip of his coffee as he listened to the loud thump from upstairs and then the sound of the toilet flushing again. This time there was no howl. Alex must have heard his sister running down the stairs and jumped out of the shower in time to avoid the blast of cold water. With an enraged hiss, Paul could hear his daughter once more tearing up the staircase to pound on the door.

"ALEX! I need to shower too!"

"Oh I'm siiiiiiiiinging in the shower! Just siiiiiiiiiiinging in the shower!!!!" Alex's melodious voice continued to resound from the other side of the door. Diane turned and once more headed down the stairs, however this time she stopped halfway down the steps as she heard the thump of her brother leaping out of the shower. Her ears twitching slightly in thought, the woren soon continued down the steps and into the bathroom. After a moment, the sound of a toilet flushing was heard once again, and a few seconds later Alex returned to his showering as Diane snuck back upstairs and headed into her father's room.

One of the nifty things about the Brandshire house is that there are two ways to get into the upstairs bathroom. The door in the hallway, and the door in Paul's bedroom. Usually the siblings never used the bedroom entrance, so they never worried about locking that door. Diane was betting that this was the current case. Carefully, she set down the glass of cold water that she carried upstairs, turned, and once more when racing down the staircase. She listened for the thump of Alex exiting the shower before turning and sneaking back upstairs and into Paul's bedroom.

Paul Brandshire just happened to be casually placing his dirty dishes in the dishwasher as the sounds from upstairs echoed throughout the house. A door flew open, Diane shouting "HAH!" then the sound of a splash and the loud yowl of his son. He didn't even turn around as now two sets of footsteps came tearing down the stairs and Diane raced into the kitchen, laughing loudly as she was followed by a drenched Alex, a white towel wrapped around his waist as he tore after his sister. Diane flew by, her nails clicking on the wooden floor as she ran. Alex, however, failed to realized that wet fur on slick wooden floor equals very slippery, especially when running, and immediatly lost his footing as his legs shot out from under him and caused the woren to land roughly on his tail end. Alex let out a loud groan, and soon after Diane peeked her head back into the kitchen. Spotting her brother crashed out on the floor, the younger Brandshire sibling flashed a fanged grin and raced upstairs, slamming closed the bathroom door and making sure both of them were locked. Soon after she could be heard purring and singing loudly from in the shower.

Paul simply turned and looked at his son who hadn't moved from the floor. "She did say she needed to take a shower too."

"My tail hurts..."

"I'm going to guess that our upstairs bathroom is now soaking wet, however, with all that jumping in and out of the shower you did."

"My tail really hurts..."

"Of course I'm sure you don't remember that I did wax the floor just a few days ago."

"I mean my tail really really hurts..."

"Would you like an ice pack for your tail?"

"No." Alex stood up and wobbled out of the kitchen. "I'd like vengence."

Paul listened as once more the downstairs toilet flushed, and the chorus that Diane was singing loudly soon became an ear-splitting howl. Paul looked out the kitchen window and gazed up at the blue sky outside. It was another bright morning in Torana, and just another ordinary day.
