Life at Windian High (Part 2)

"Saeko?" Mrs. Wireman asked the Japanese American teacher.

"Hmm? Yes Jennifer?" Ms. Smith replied before she took a sip of her punch.

No matter what school you attend, and in which dimension it's in, there will always be at least one chaperone present at any school function, be it a carnival, a dance, a talent show... Windian High was no exception. Ms. Smith and Mrs. Wireman, along with others from the school faculty, were among those present to watch over the students at this dance.

Mrs. Wireman watched as Alyson Van Horne attempted to spike the punch with what appeared to be a bottle of fire sauce. The teacher's ears bobbed angrily, and she was about to stop her when Brad, doing his agent routine, escorted her away while whispering into his imaginary ear piece.

"Well... I was going to say something about Ms. Van Horne, but that student there just stopped her from making the punch a little hotter." Mrs. Wireman took a small sip from her punch before turning back to her colleague.

"Student?" Ms. Smith asked before running a hand through her hair and looking in the direction that Brad had gone. "That's Brad..." Saeko said with a chuckle. "Don't worry about him, Jennifer. Brad's just unique."

"Mr. Terranama... he was one of your students back at your old school, correct?" Mrs. Wireman asked before smoothing her simple white blouse.

Ms. Smith nodded to Mrs. Wireman before they both made their way to the punch table. "Brad's... how do I put this. He's rather unique, Jennifer." As she was talking to the grassrunner teacher, Ms. Smith straightened out her ever-present yellow sweater before going to the punch bowl and refilling her cup.

"Unique? How so?" Mrs. Wireman asked as her ears bobbed in curiosity.

Ms. Smith was listening to Lucy sing before she turned back to Mrs. Wireman. "Well, he's a smooth talker, plus he's got this... weird sense of humor, Jennifer."

"I see..." The Grassrunner said as she turned to look at Brad. "So, that would explain why he was standing guard over the punch bowl..."

Ms. Smith giggled before taking another sip of her punch. "True... You know, this dance is like the ones back in Lunarvale..."

Jennifer Wireman took her glasses off and cleaned them, before slipping them back on her face. "Maybe that's a similarity between our two worlds then. Saeko, I'd like to visit St. Hermelin sometime... Take a look at the school and such."

"Well..." Ms. Smith replied before watching some of the couples out on the dance floor. "We can see. I'm sure Dr. Kotter would love to meet a teacher like you."

Both teachers continued to keep an eye on the students. What Saeko Smith didn't know was that fate was about to deal her something that was going to make her extremely happy.
