Life at Windian High (Part 2)

Friday night after the dance...

"Welcome to The Tiger's Catch!!!" Lorenda Chiba said with a smile.

The dance had ended about half an hour ago, and Billy West had decided to make good on his promise to Sabs Morgan. Both teenagers entered the restaurant and took in the atmosphere as Mrs. Chiba smiled at the couple as they talked amongst themselves.

"Ma'am?" Billy said politely as he presented the voucher that Ryan had given him at the dance.

"Ah..." Mrs. Chiba told the couple as her tail flicked idly. "Right this way..." Billy and Sabs followed the woren through the restaurant, until she showed them to a table. "Please, have a seat and someone will be with you shortly..."

Billy, being the gentleman that he is, seated Sabs, before taking a seat, letting his wings rest behind the chair's back.

"This is a nice restaurant..." Sabs said as she continued to glance around. "I can't place it... but..."

"It's kinda got that homelike feel..." Billy added in as he removed his hat. For the first time that night, Sabs Morgan managed to get a good look at the Windian cowboy's hair.

Oh Ladon... I've... never seen anyone with hair that color... It's...

"Sabs???" Billy asked as he looked the Tunlan native over. "You okay???"

"Your hair..." Sabs replied with wide eyes. "And your wings... I've never seen a Windian with silver hair and wings..."

"Oh..." Billy said, starting to get a little more nervous. "It was kind of a birth defect, ya know? Nothing I kin do about it..."

"Well..." Sabs said before placing her hand on top of his. "I like it... I think it's really cute." The Tunlan dressed girl looked deep into Billy's eyes and gave him an honest smile.

"Ya think so???" Billy said as he stared back at Sabs, smiling warmly.

"Billy..." Sabs said quietly as she smiled at the Windian Cowboy. "I don't think so... I know so..."

Billy just smiled back at Sabs, and placed his other hand on hers, making her blush slightly. About a minute later, a waiter came by with their menus, took their drink orders, and gave them a little more time to make their decisions.

Sabs was taking a sip of her water when she saw Ms. Smith and Vagger, sitting in one of the booths and talking about various things, both personal and school related. The Tunlan native blinked a couple of times, before turning back to her date.

"Billy..." Sabs started. "Behind you... my speech teacher... Ms. Smith... she's here with Vagger!"

"Huh..." The silver haired Windian said as he "accidentally" brushed his hat off the table. "Oops... gotta get my hat...." Billy leaned down and picked up his cowboy hat, stealing a glance at the booths behind their table. Sure enough, he spotted the woren teacher talking to the human teacher about little things.

"Ye're right..." Billy replied as he set his hat back on the table. "Guess those rumors about their kiss was true..." The Windian Cowboy shrugged his wings lightly before glancing out the window. "Ladon, it's a nice night tonight..."

"It certainly is..." Sabs said as she slowly moved her gaze from Billy's wings over to the window.

"I was thinkin'..." Billy started as he turned back to his date. "Its such a nice night... would you like to go out to the park after dinner? Just for a walk?"

Sabs's eyes immediately lit up when she heard the words that had come from the mouth of one Billy West. "I'd love to, Billy!"

The waiter came back and took their orders, and left once more. While waiting for their meals, the two teenagers continued to talk to each other, learning just a little more about each other. Even as they ate, they continued to make idle chat. Sabs was rather impressed with how polite Billy was. Even though the meal was free, the Windian left a tip for their waiter.

As the two teenagers walked together through the park, Sabs finally asked the question.

"Billy... Er... why me? I mean, I'm not Windian... not like Amber..." The Tunlan dressed girl said as she turned to look at her date.

"Why not you?" Billy replied with a smile. "Yer a good dancer... you're gorgeous, and intelligent. I don't know why I didn't try to ask ya out before the dance..."

Sabs just smiled at the Windian Cowboy. What surprised her was when Billy slid an arm around her. By now the two of them were in front of the fountain in the center of the park. This fountain was one that paid homage to Nina Winlan. Coincidentally, it was the same fountain that Frank appeared in front of when he first came to Windia...

"Oh wow..." Sabs said quietly as she stared at the fountain. "It's like... she's pouring out a fountain of stars, Billy... Ladon, it's so beautiful..."

"Sabs..." Billy started as he stared her straight in the eyes. "Let's do this again sometime, hon... I really like bein' with you..."

"Oh Billy..." Sabs said quietly. "I wouldn't mind at all..."

"Ladon, Sabs... I... I love ya... I really do, hon..." Billy said quietly...

"Billy... I... love you too..." Sabs replied, a tear slowly falling from her eye.

The Windian cowboy slowly took Sabs into a long kiss, a moment shared between both of them that would mark the beginning of their relationship. As they embraced, Billy stretched his wings as wide as he could.

If one looked closely, they looked just like Nina Winlan's wings... only slightly smaller.
