Life at Windian High (Part 2)

"So what was that all about?" Ray finally managed to regain himself after the kiss that Lucy had startled him with. The dragon's face was slowly turning back to its original color. Lucy shrugged and took his hand as the two started walking again.

"I just wanted him to leave me alone, that's all. Seemed to be the best way to do it." Lucy let out a low chuckle and turned to Ray with a smirk. "It was definantly one of the more fun ways, I'll admit." The dragon turned bright red once more and rubbed the back of his neck with his free hand.

"So um... you mentioned the dance..."

Lucy nodded and turned to Ray. "Well?"

The dragon blinked. "Well what?"

"Isn't it usually traditional that the guy askes the girl to go to the dance with him?" The raven-haired windian grinned as Ray began to stumble over his words and turn even redder.

"Ah, well... I guess, that is, um... so... if you... uh..."

Lucy was doing her best to hold back her laughter as she shook her head at Ray. "Alright, look, just stop..." Ray stopped attempting to speak. Lucy nodded. "Now, take a deep breath..." Ray took a deep breath. "Remember to let it out..." Ray exhaled. "Good, now... let's try this once more..." Lucy continued to grin at Ray as the dragon's face began to return to its normal color and he kept rubbing the back of his neck.

"So... I guess I was going to ask you eventually before Brad showed up, but... um... about the dance coming up, and, if you think you might, maybe, I dunno, want to go to the dance with me?"

Lucy continued to smile up into his green eyes. "Ray, I'd love to go to the dance with you."

Ray's eyes lit up as he heard Lucy's answer. "Really? I mean, you will? You would?"

"Why wouldn't I?" Lucy let out a small giggle as Ray began to rub the back of his neck again, considering her question. Lucy just shook her head. "Nevermind, anyway... weren't we going on a walk?" Lucy took Ray's hand again and gave a light tug, smiling. Ray returned the gesture with a grin of his own and the couple continued on their walk.

"You know, Lucy... besides the things that have happened recently, there's something new and happy about you..."

"Yea." The windian leaned her head up against Ray's shoulder as the two walked. "That's easy to notice, Ray, it's you." She smiled up at him, and he returned with a warm smile of his own as they walked on.
