Life at Windian High (Part 2)

The door to the shed was just barely cracked open. Light was filtering in through the dusty windows, casting a soft glow over all the tools in the shed. Diane made her way over to a green tarp and scooted it aside, her eyes went wide as she stared down at the gatlin gun that Alex had receieved in Lunarville.

"Man..." Diane reached down and carefully picked up the gun, her tail waving as she looked it over. "Look at ya, out here. I know, it's not fair. StormCaller's inside tha house, all shined up and pretty and ready if he's ever gotta be used again, but Alex put ya out here all by yer lonesome to collect dust." Daine's tail continued to wave lightly as she brushed some dust off of the gun's slick surface. "Aw, ye're in bad need of a cleanin'. When was tha las' time Alex came out to see you? I bet he jus' forgot about ya as soon as he put ya out here. But dun worry, I won't forget about ya. Hey, I'll come out here and shine ya and get ya all nice lookin' and-" Diane was cut off by a creaking noise. Immediatly she put the gatlin gun down and turned to see Alex poking his head in.

"Diane? What are you doing out here?"

"Huh?" Daine's ears flicked lightly. "Oh! I was um... just.. out here, lookin' fer... ya know... stuff!"

"Right....." Alex leaned against the door frame for a moment, giving his sister and unbelieving look. "What kind of stuff?"

"Well gee!" Diane rolled her eyes. "It's a tool shed, ain't it? Tool stuff!" It was then that Alex noticed the moved green tarp.

"Diane.. did you come out here to see my gatlin gun?"

Daine's ears flicked uneasily. "Well.. yea... Boomer just seemed so lonely..."

"BOOMER???" Alex stared at his sister in disbelief. "You named the gun Boomer???? You named the gun?????"

"Hey!" Diane pointed a finger at Alex. "You used to name the salt and pepper shaker!"

Alex was about to say something else when he suddenly paused. "Er... yea... but...... but that was years ago! Besides, what kind of name is Boomer for a gun?"

Diane folded her arms and gave Alex a bored look, raising on eyebrow just slightly. "Mr. Salty and Bop Head?

Alex paused again for a moment, looking rather emberassed. "Well Mr. Salty for a salt shaker made more sense then Boomer for a gatlin gun..."

"Oh? And what about Bop Head?"

"Well...." Alex scratched his head lightly. "I think I used to call it that because it was the one we'd always throw at each other..."

Diane nodded. "And Boomer is loud when ya fire him, so there. I rest my case." She then crossed her arms and gave Alex set look. Her brother sighed in defeat.

"Alright, so maybe Boomer does kind of make sense..."

"Good, now apologize to him."

"What???"

"You made fun of his name! Apologize to Boomer!"

Alex muttered and gave his sister a 'you can't be serious' look. Diane clicked her tongue and placed her hands on her hips.

"Look, first ya only use him fer like, one fight. Then ya come home an' put him away an' never see him again, and now yer makin' fun of his name! I don' think it's too much ta ask for ya ta apologize ta him for tha' one thin'!"

Alex sighed in defeat. "I guess you're right.. Alright, I'm sorry Boomer."

"Ah ah!" Diane picked up the gatlin gun and held it up. "Say it to him..."

Alex sighed again and looked at the gun in his sister's hands. "I'm sorry, Boomer. You have a nice name, really."

"Good!" Diane put the gun back down and carefully covered it with the green tarp. "C'mon, dinner's gonna be ready soon." She then made her way out of the shed with her brother. After closing the shed door, she turned and gave him one of her grins.

Alex looked at his sister curiously. "What?"

"I jus' got ya to apologize ta a gun..."

Alex paused for a moment, and suddenly realization set in. "Hey... wait a minute!" Diane took off in a sprint as she ran towards the house, laughing. Alex just stood and watched her for a moment before shaking his head in wonder. "How did she..... argh..." He then took off after his sister.
