It was before school. Students were gathered together in the courtyard, talking with their friends as they waited for the bell to ring. Frank and company, or as it appeared today, lack-of-Frank and company were chatting together in their usual area near a bench that sat under a large tree. From time to time, Kate would look up, scanning the crowd for the face of her boyfriend, but to no avail.

About three trees to the right of where the group was standing, another, much smaller cluster of students were talking together. This little crowd consisted of only four members, a stallion girl with a vivid blue mane and tail, a forest clan girl, grey in coloring with a black and white muzzle, a blonde haired, blue eyed windian girl with small white wings, and finally, a human girl with fiery red hair and green eyes. The four friends were talking idly together as they waited for their school day to start.

"So," the windian brushed a few strands of her hair behind her ears. "You all going to go to the dance?"

The stallion made a face and let out a snort. "Me? Dance?" She reared back her head and let out a braying laugh, one sounding rather similar to Balio's trademark laugh. The wolf next to her smirked before turning to her friends.

"I think we should make Chelsea go just to see her in a dress."

The stallion recoiled with a look of disguist that caused the other three to laugh loudly.

"Cheezus, you're so mean, Tym." The human girl poked at the wolf, causing her to growl playfully as her tail wagged.

"Anyway," the windian shook her head, her wings bouncing a little. "You two should atleast come. Remember the last dance we had?"

"Ugh, how can I forget?" Tym stuck her tongue out and made a face of annoyance. "I had to run that thing, that was so annoying..."

"Well yea, but remember the other band that was there? Not WINGS, I mean that new one.. The Blazing Dragons? Anyway, I've been asking around, got a hold of one of them. Appearently they're playing at the dance."

"Really?" The human girl turned to her friend. "Oh! That reminds me, did anyone else see what happened after school yesterday?" Three pairs of eyes turned curiously towards her as she continued to talk. "Gosh, it was after school, this huge thing... Justin and Janet got into a fight, they've finally broken up."

"Really?" The windian's eyes went wide as her friend nodded. "So, what's happened to WINGS then?"

"Poof." The human shrugged. "Janet said it was over with."

"Well that's too bad." The windian rubbed the back of her neck thoughtfully, her wings twitching. "Hrm, that reminds me, Chad wasn't at drama yesterday."

"You have drama fourth period, right?" Tym's tail waved. "Heh, so you didn't hear about what happened?"

The windian blinked and looked at her friend. "Why do I suddenly feel like I'm suddenly out of the social circles in this school?"

The human girl laughed at her friend. "Cheezus, Amber, you're just missing everything aren't you? Guess that dance has really been on your mind, huh? Have you asked someone to it yet?"

Amber's cheeks went pink as her wings twitched. "No..."

"But you have someone in mind, don't you." Tym grinned, her tail waving as she considered her friend.

"Maybe." The windian brushed a few strands of hair behind her ear. "Anyway, so who are you two asking?"

"Hrm? I dunno, just thought I'd go stag." The human shrugged. Amber tsked and shook her head.

"Sabs, you go stag every year!"

"Yea, but atleast that way I'm not tied down to dancing with one guy." She chuckled and folded her arms over her chest as she made her point and then turned to the wolf girl next to her. "So who are you asking?"

"I dunno. I guess I kinda feel like asking Luke." Tym had an uncertain expression on her face as her tail waved thoughtfully. Immediatly her three friends turned and gave her a look of 'are you insane??' Chelsea let out a snort, her tail lashing in annoyance.

"Luke? The jerk who's face I've been wanting to ground into floor, Luke?"

"Yea." Tym nodded. "That Luke."

"Why do you want to ask him?" Sabs considered her friend with concern. "Tym, you feeling okay? I mean, come on, Luke's the biggest jerk around! You can do better then that..."

"He is a jerk, but he's a cute jerk." Tym chuckled, her tail wagging. Amber clicked her tongue and shook her head.

"Ugh, your choice I guess, just bring mace or something."

"I didn't say I was going to ask him." The wolf girl rolled her eyes. "Was just a thought, and anyway-" Her sentence was cut off suddenly by the sound of the bell ringing and all four girls looked up. Sabs let out a groan.

"Ugh, crap, have to get to english. I just remembered, Windford's got a stupid test for us to do on this book I've been supposed to be reading. Ah well, wish me luck you three." The group of girls said their farewells before heading off to their lockers and classrooms.
