Life at Windian High (Part 2)

Chris Fallon was watching his best friend practice at the school's archery range. It was lunchtime, but he had to talk to Cynthia, and the only place the woren could find her was here.

"So..." Cynthia started before letting an arrow loose at the target. She then turned to the woren and gave him a toothy grin. "I take it she said, yes..."

Chris ran a hand through his jet-black hair as his tail began to wave nervously. "Heh... How'd you guess, Cynthia?"

"Chris..." Cynthia started as her tail wagged in amusement. "How long have we known each other?"

"For quite awhile now... since grade school..."

Cynthia smirked as her ears batted in amusement. "And you're asking me how I guessed?

The woren let out a low chuckle. "I guess you're right Cynth... Well, yeah... Diane and I are going to the dance... And she's coming over for dinner later this week."

"Whoa..." The Forest Clan girl said before notching another arrow and pulling it back. "So she's meeting the folks?"

Chris nodded. "Yeah... my parents have seen her a few times... Mom thinks that Diane is a nice girl... Dad wants to get to know her better, and Cherise..." Chris said with a grin. "Cherise really likes her, you know. When she came over... They got along really well."

"Really?" Cynthia said as she let her arrow loose. The projectile bounced of the ground at an angle, off an adjacent wall, and hit the target. She then turned to Chris as her tail began to wag. "I know your sister... if she's like that with Diane..."

"I get the idea, Cynthia..." Chris said with a smile. "They get along... and that's great. It takes a lot for Cherise to open up to someone... Diane just has that certain something, ya know?" The woren's tail was waving with delight.

"You've told me before Chris..." Cynthia said with a chuckle, before running a hand through her rich brown hair. "Diane's energetic, cute, and everything that you'd like..."

"It just clicked, Cynthia." Chris said as he glanced around. "Before... when I had a crush on Ellie... Diane still stood out... It's her... I really do love her, Cynth... I'd go to Torana's end and back for her..." Chris neglected to mention what had happened the first time Diane saw his house, when they first began to go out. It was then that he admitted his feelings toward her.

"That's good to know, Chris... I know it was rough at first, with all that had happened to you... But eventually..."

Chris let out a slow and honest smile. "It all worked for the better... Diane's one of the best things that has happened to me..."

Cynthia smiled at her friend and continued to practice. The two continued to talk until the bell rang to signal the end of the lunch period.
