Life at Windian High

The door slammed shut to the Fallon's home, startling everyone who was currently at home.

"Chris? Is that you?" Amy Fallon said as she came from their spacious kitchen.

"..." Was Chris's only reply.

This must be the mortal's mother... Interesting...

"Chris?" Mrs. Fallon asked again.

"Yeah mom?" Chris replied rather flatly.

Mrs. Fallon's ears twitched. "Are you okay?"

Chris looked up at his mother, his eyes missing their usual shine. "Of course, mom..." he said as his tail waved slowly.

"... All right hon... Don't forget to say hello to your sister." Mrs. Fallon said as she returned to the kitchen. Something about her son was making her fur stand on end, but she couldn't put a finger on what it was.

A sister? How interesting... I wonder if she could be of any use to me...

As Chris entered the living room, a small, woren girl looked up. She looked at Chris briefly.

"Chris?" The young girl said quietly.

HellCat racked Chris's memory for the young girl's name.

"Cherise... hi..." Chris said in his odd monotone voice.

Cherise backed up, her fur on end and her ears standing in fear. "You're not Chris..."

"Of course I am... Who else would I be?" Chris replied with a sly smile.

Cherise's small tail stood straight out. "You're... you're not my bro... Something's different about you! I can feel it!"

"Cherise... There's nothing wrong with me..." Chris said again. Unfortunately, his eyes at that moment decided to flash from blue to a glowing red.

That was enough for Cherise. She ran out of the living room, screaming in fear.

Damn mortal can sense magic... In fact, both of them can... This may be harder then I thought...

Chris went upstairs to his room, silently closing the door behind him.

Cherise went running into the kitchen, screaming and crying. When she saw her mother, she threw herself at her, clutching her leg in fear.

"Sweetie? What's wrong?" Mrs. Fallon said as she tried to comfort the sobbing woren girl that was attached to her leg.

"Chris... it's him... but it's also not him..." Cherise sobbed out.

"I know, hon... I know... I felt it too... I just can't place what's wrong with him..." Mrs. Fallon said quietly.

Mother and daughter embraced quietly, reveling in the comfort of each other, knowing not what happened to Chris.
