Life at Windian High

Oh man... I forgot what today was... I wish I had remembered earlier... I miss them... Mom... Dad... Where ever your souls have traveled... Happy Anniversary... I just wish you both were still alive today...

Science Class, second period at Windia High School. Usually, all of the students during this period pay close attention to their teacher, Mrs. Wireman. Usually, since Frank Maynard couldn't concentrate on his teacher's lecture. He had other things on his mind. Personal matters... Secrets from his past that no one knew about the fun loving teenager.

"Mr. Maynard? Are you with us today?" Mrs. Wireman asked her student, both her ears twitching in impatience.

Frank lightly shook his head. "Yes ma'am..."

Mrs. Wireman gave Frank a stern look, before returning to her lecture, which had something to do with the aerodynamics of a Windian's wings.

While Frank was lost in thought, Lucy Conwing took a look at the Persona User, who was still deep in thought.

Frank's usually not like this... Lucy then scribbled down some notes as Mrs. Wireman continued her lecture.

Lucy stole another look at Frank, and was surprised to find a frown on his face.

He's not smiling like he usually is... I wonder what he's thinking about?

Granted, Lucy continued to take notes, and glanced at Frank every so often, noting that the human teenager had sort of a defeated look.

Meanwhile, Frank was still trying to take notes, but his mind was racked with thoughts... about his current life, former life, and his parents.

I had a normal life before all of this... Back in Lunarvale... But that went to pieces a few months ago. I wanted to be something... An officer of the law... or maybe a psychiatrist, since everyone seems to open up to me. But that went to hell with the SEBEC scandal. How can I be an officer if I couldn't even protect my own parents? But... they died to protect me... Guido wanted me dead because I was trying to stop him... But I still wish... I wish I could have been there...

"Mr. MAYNARD!" Mrs. Wireman nearly yelled as she glared at her student.

Frank looked up, his thoughts broken. He could her the snickering of some students in the classroom, the only sound which kept him at that moment in reality instead of his own world.

"See me after school today." Mrs. Wireman said before returning to her lecture once more.

Frank sighed, before tuning out his own thoughts and concentrating on his teacher for the rest of the period.

School was now out. Students were fighting to get out of the school and to get home, to work, to hang out with their friends...

Frank Maynard, however, was still lost in thought. Despite this, he remembered what happened in science class. Slinging his backpack over his shoulder, he sighed to himself as he made his way over to Mrs. Wireman's classroom. When Frank reached Mrs. Wireman's classroom, he knocked on the door politely.

"Come in!" Mrs. Wireman yelled from inside.

The Persona User did so, shutting the door silently behind him. "You wanted to see me, ma'am?"

Mrs. Wireman took a look up from the papers she was grading. "Please take a seat, Mr. Maynard."

Frank did so, unslinging his pack from his shoulder and laying it beside the desk that he had chosen. A few minutes of silence passed before Mrs. Wireman looked up from the papers that she was grading.

"Mr. Maynard... Usually, you are more attentive than that. Is something wrong?"

Frank gave a low sigh. "I'm sorry, Mrs. Wireman. I just had a lot on my mind at the moment... It won't happen again."

Mrs. Wireman gave Frank a look. "And just what was so important that made you so distracted today?"

"It's my parent's anniversary, ma'am."

Mrs. Wireman sighed before pushing her glasses up on her face. "Wait... I thought your Guardian, Ms. Rorins, wasn't..."

"She's not, ma'am. I'm talking about my real parents." Frank said as he looked at his desk.

"Wait... you knew your parents? I thought you were adopted..." Mrs. Wireman said, ears twitching in surprise.

Frank said nothing else. Mrs. Wireman noticed a few tears fall from his face and splash against his desk.

"I knew my parents. Yes..." Frank choked out. "And when I went looking for this thing..." Frank then showed a ring on his hand that had a rainbow colored gem on it. "I found out what happened to them."

Mrs. Wireman stared at the gem in disbelief. She had heard legends of different gems scattered through out the world. She didn't believe them until now, when one was staring her in the face, on the ring finger of one of her students.

"My parents..." Frank choked out. "They... they..." Frank cried softly. "Guido Sardenia... Murdered them... Only because... Mom and dad wouldn't tell him where..." Frank then began to cry in buckets as old memories flooded his mind.

Mrs. Wireman moved from her desk and sat beside Frank. "I didn't know, Frank..."

Frank continued to cry until it died down to a few sobs. He had a lot to get off of his chest, and now, it turns out that he had someone to talk to.

"This... person... Guido Sardenia... as you said..." Mrs. Wireman said quietly. "Was he ever brought to justice?"

Frank looked at his teacher and noticed that her ears were twitching in genuine curiosity.

"Eventually, yes. At the hands of my friends... It's a long story, actually." Frank said with a sigh.

"I have time..." Mrs. Wireman said softly.

And so, the Persona User related his life story, beginning with the SEBEC scandal in Lunarvale, up to the point where he and his friends disappeared during school that one day. Even the snow storm that recently occurred was explained.

Mrs. Wireman didn't know what to think. The voice in her head was telling her that it was illogical. But she knew in her heart that everything her student had told her was true.

Frank didn't know what else to do. He was tired... upset... But it just felt good to finally open up to someone.

"Mrs. Wireman... please... Don't tell Ellen or Nate that you know about us. I don't know how they'd react if they knew."

"Frank... I won't. Though I'd like to know about your powers... and why you're able to call on former destined to aid you..." Mrs. Wireman's ears were still twitching in curiosity.

"I don't know how to explain it. So far, I'm the only one who has the former destined. Philemon hinted at Nate and Ellen getting some more help soon, but..." Frank said as he shook his head.

Mrs. Wireman looked at her student once more before slowly getting up. "All right Frank... you may go now."

Frank got up and did what no student usually does. He gave his teacher a hug.

"Thank you Mrs. Wireman. Thank you for listening to me..."

Mrs. Wireman returned her student's hug in surprise. "If you need to talk to anyone, you know where to find me."

Frank finally smiled the first genuine smile of the day. "I will ma'am. Thank you."

Both teacher and student separated. Frank gave a wave, before leaving the classroom to go home.

"I'm home!!!" Frank said as he entered the Reverse Edge Weapon Emporium.

His Woren guardian, Jess Rorins, looked up from the sword display she was fixing.

"Frank? I was getting worried! Where were you?" Jess said as her tail waved in worry.

"At school, Je- I mean, mom..." Frank said with a smile.

Jess was surprised. This was the first time he had called her mom. "What happened at school?"

Frank looked at Jess. "Oh nothing... just got in touch with myself... and had a bit of personal healing..." Frank then turned to go upstairs to change and get ready for his shift.
