Life at Windian High

By Frank Mayn (FrankMayn@comcast.net)

Ah yes... a seemingly normal day in the city called Windia... One Ellen Johnson, submitted for your approval.

In the library, Ellen is sitting at a table with her nose buried in books.

Frank walked in, and noticed his friend.

"Hey Ellie! Whatcha reading?" Frank asked in his library voice as he approached his friend.

"..." Was the response Ellen gave.

"Ellen?" Frank asked. Once again, Ellen ignored him.

"Earth to Ellen!!!" Frank said. Ellen didn't even budge. This time, Frank picked a book up and glanced at the title.

"Woren Legends... Myths of the World" Frank shook his head as he set the book down.

"I'll never get her attention if she's reading those books again..." He said quietly as he wandered off to another part of the library.

This time, Kate wandered into the library. She saw Ellen at a table, and immediately approached her.

"Hi Ellie! Um... Have you seen Frank?" Kate asked as her tail flicked.

"..." Was what was given as a response.

Kate's ear twitched. "Ellen???" Ellen just ignored Kate again.

Kate sighed and picked up a book. "Hrm... Windian Myth?" She managed to sound out.

Kate placed the book back on the table. "Now where are you, Frank..." She said quietly as she began to look through the library.

The library door opened again, and this time, Nate entered.

Nate quietly approached the table. "Ellen... have you seen this book anywhere? I need it for some research on a speech..."

"..." Was the given answer again.

"Ellen?" Nate said as he adjusted his scarf.

As usual, Ellen ignored Nate.

Nate sighed, and picked a book up off of the table. "Huh? The Forest Clan and Nature: A Collection of Myths..."

Nate placed the book back on the table. "I need that book... now where was it..." He said as he walked off and adjusted his glasses.

Finally, Alex Brandshire, Ellen's boyfriend, walked in. Immediately, he spotted Ellen and made his way over to her table.

"Love! Whatcha reading?" Alex said as he glanced at her.

Ellen gave the usual response. "..."

"Love?" Alex asked once again. His ear began to twitch as he fidgeted.

Once again, Ellen ignored Alex.

Alex picked up a book. "Huh? The Brood or the Light Dragons? Which is real? A Collection of Myths..."

Alex placed the book back on the table. "I need to find Frank... maybe he can help me get Ellen's attention..." Alex said to himself as he walked around the library.

Eventually, Ellen looked up.

"Huh? That's odd..." Ellen said as she closed her book. "I thought my friends were supposed to meet me here! Oh well..." Ellen then checked some books out, and went back to The Tiger's Catch.
