Life at Windian High

Jason had been in a funk for the past week.

It had all started at school when he had gotten in a fight at school with one of the teens that hang out with that one kid, Frank. Chad wasn't sure who everyone was in that group, he hadn't seen them much. He'd heard weird things about them from a few of the other WINGS members, and he could remember some really weird things he had seen Frank do, but other then that he didn't know much about them. Didn't matter much anyway, Frank and his friends weren't Chad's main concern right now. His main concern was Jason, who was in a funk, and had been for the past week. He had been in lunch detention almost every day, and Chad and David were barely able to catch him a few times after school before he disappeared.

Wonder where he goes off to? Chad glanced around the school courtyard. It was after school, and he and David had been searching out Jason. Jason had been in a funk for the past week and something had to be done. Dude's gonna cheer up if we have to hold him down and tattoo a smile onto his face.

The brown-winged windian glanced up as he heard a familiar whistle and took off running in the direction it sounded from. A moment later he caught up to David who had been standing out in front of the school doors when Chad had been watching the gate. Chad glanced around curiously as he approached the larger windian. "Didja find him?"

"Yea." David nodded and motioned inside the school. "He's headed down the hall, should be out here soon."

"Great! Okay!... great... okay." Chad fingered his goatee and struck a thoughtful pose. "Okay great..." He snapped his fingers, a grin on his face. "Right! You stand over there," he motioned to the right of the school's front doors, hinting at David to wait someplace out of sight. "And I'll wait over here and we'll get him when he comes out." David nodded and headed off to station himself out of sight.

Jason was minding his own business as he paced down the halls of Windian High, his backpack slung over his right shoulder, and his left hand in the jacket pocket of his school uniform. Jason was tired, annoyed, and really really felt like punching someone in the face. Today was a day that wasn't looking too good. As Jason stepped out of the double doors that were the entrance of the school and headed towards the open school gate, his mind was fixed on getting home, dropping his stuff off, and leaving again before Troy had a chance to get a hold of him. Because of these minor mental distractions, Jason was a little more then startled when he suddenly felt and elbow resting on his left shoulder and then suddenly David and Chad were walking beside him.

"Shit!" Jason glanced between the two, not bothering to hide the fact that they had startled the hell out of him. "Where'd you two come from?"

"Heeeeeyyy!" Chad grinned at Jason. "How's my favorite pyro?"

Jason raised his eyebrow at Chad. "Don't call me that..."

"Dude! Come on! You've been bummed for like, a week now! Mind letting me joke around just a little bit?"

Jason muttered. "Look, I don't really have time for this..." He quickened his pace to speed away from the other two windians. Chad and David exchanged glances, and Chad cleared his throat before motioning to Jason.

"David..."

In the next instant Jason barely had time to feel David grab a hold of him, but the next thing Jason knew was that he was pinned on the ground under the windian wrestler with Chad grinning down at him from where he was standing over the two.

"Thanks David." Chad patted his bud on the shoulder and David grunted as he held a squirming Jason in place.

"Alright you two," Jason growled out angrily. "I'm givin you three seconds to let me up."

"Whoa whoa!" Chad held up his hands. "Dude! Hear us out!" Jason answered him with a grumble and Chad motioned for David to let him up. David helped Jason to his feet and the windian brushed himself off before Chad began to explain.

"Listen, Jason, you've been in the dumps for the past few days, right? Well who the hell are we if we don't do something to cheer you up?" Chad glanced at David with a questioning look. "Am I right?" David nodded in agreement before turning back to Jason. "So we figured we oughta do our job and try and help your mood a bit."

"And just how are you going to do that?" Jason picked his pack back up from where he had dropped it when David and tackled him.

"Simple." Chad grinned one of those grins that just told you he was up to something. "We're going out for a night in the town!"

Jason stared at his friend for a moment before the corner of his mouth raised into a half grin. "Don't you mean day?"

"Uh..." Chad's expression faltered a moment to one that looked more sheepish as he crossed his arms and shifted his weight from foot to foot a bit. "Yea well, day of course." He motioned with a jerk of his hand to the sky. "I mean it's day right now right?" Jason was just smirking at his friend before Chad finally gave in with a roll of his eyes. "Dude! It just sounds better that way, alright?"

"Alright, fine." Jason chuckled. "Drag me off somewhere, corrupt my poor mind with your evil ways." Jason continued to taunt his two friends with a large smirk. "But just remember, this time I'm not hiding the bodies!"

David shook his head. "Don't look at me, our basement is full." Both Jason and David then turned to Chad.

"Eh..." The windian stroked his goatee. "Tell you what, we just won't kill anyone this time and we won't have to worry about all of that." He grinned at his two friends and the three laughed as they began to plan out their day of terror in Windia.

* * *

"You don't think she saw us, did you?" David's quiet question was replied by a loud 'SHHHHHH' from both Chad and Jason. The Windian Trio, after having stopped by Jason's house long enough for the red haired windian to drop off his backpack and change clothes, had started up on their day of trouble nice and early. Currently the three were crouched behind a dumpster that was located at the back of one of Windia's diners simply know as 'Kit's Kitchen.' Kit, the manager of the diner, a human woman in her 30's or so with short blonde hair and wearing a yellow dress and apron was out back investigating a noise she had heard. That noise had been David after he had accidentally tripped over an empty cardboard box that had been strewn outside carelessly and had scared a nearby stray cat who had been rooting through the garbage. The overall noise of David's 'whoa!' as he fell, the cat's startled yowl, and the sound of a garbage can crashing over and spilling out its contents had apparently been enough to get the manager curious enough to come outside and investigate what had happened. The trio had just barely managed to duck around a large green dumpster before Kit appeared outside and glanced around the area.

"Darn strays." Kit shook her head as she spotted the spilled garbage can and turned back to enter the diner once more through the back door that she had appeared from. "I'll have to get Woody to go clean that up sometime." The trio let out a sigh of relief.

"That wasn't so bad." Chad glanced out from behind the dumpster again and finally stepped out from his hiding spot, looking around. He motioned to the two others when the coast was clear and the trio headed over to the back door of the diner marked 'Staff Only.' Cracking the door open and glancing inside the three slowly made their way into the back kitchen of Kit's Diner. What happened next was two minutes of full chaos that seemed to last forever as the sound of shouting started up. Soon there was a woman's angry cry, the clattering of dishes, the yowl of a cat and the Windian Trio blasted out of the back door of the diner, Chad and Jason each casting a quick Haste spell on themselves before Chad shouted a spell onto David too and the three took of running at top speed just as Kit emerged from the diner, shaking her fist wildly at the three fleeing windians.

"AND STOP ASKING US FOR LEFT-HANDED POTATO PEELERS!!" That was the last thing the trio heard as they disappeared around another building, continuing their race through a few side alleys of Windia before they finally stopped to catch their breath and collapse in a fit of laughter.

"Dude..." Chad wiped a tear from his eyes as he clutched at his ribs, sore from laughing. "Never order the fish at Kit's. Did you see what color that stuff was?"

"I didn't want to see." The thought of Kit's odd colored food brought a grimace to David's face. "I mean, I had just eaten like, five of their fish sticks."

"Yea, but it didn't help much that you were switching the pancake mix for the 'special seasoning' that they had been using on their chicken."

Jason seemed to be laughing the hardest out of the three. Chad and David exchanged glances.

"Dude, you can breath, right?" Chad grinned as he watched Jason managed out a nod and the windian worked to hold down his humor. Chad chuckled and turned to David. "Come on, David, he's getting nowhere fast. Help him out a bit and just Mute him."

Jason wiped a tear from his eye and spoke to David without turning to him. "Do it and I flame you."

"Dude!" Chad started laughing again as he grinned at Jason. "You can't cast spells if you're muted!"

A look of sudden realization passed over Jason's face. "Oh yea..." he reached out, whapping Chad upside the head playfully. "Man, being around you two kills brain cells."

"Huh, if that's true we'd better stop because you don't have much to spare." David grinned at Jason as the red haired windian punched him in the arm lightly.

"Come on, you two." Chad stood up and stretched, flexing his wings to their full extent for a moment before they folded back into a rested position. "We've still got a lot more to do."

Two more stores were hit, one an armory that the manager had stepped out of for a few moments. Jason and Chad had managed themselves into full-bodied pieces of armor and would begin to casually strike up conversations with some of the customers as David would pace around the store trying to sell people articles of armory that generally had no practical purposes.

"And this," David held up a piece of equipment that split off in three places and had some sort of band dangling from it, "well... I have no idea what this is but I'm pretty sure someone like you could use it any day!" He grinned at the fish man that was giving him a blank stare. Suddenly a suit of enterily black armor walked up to David and tapped him on the shoulder. David motioned to his 'customer' to wait a moment, "'scuse me," and turned to the walking piece of armor. As the customer quickly hurried off to another part of the shop, Chad's voice could be heard from inside the armor.

"Manager's coming, we'd better get out of here."

As Jason and Chad rushed out of their costumes the trio scrambled their way out of the store in time to aviod the returning manager.

The last store the trio had hit had been a little bit trickier. Actually, they hadn't gotten very far into the trade shop when the owner had caught them sneaking around in the back and then proceeded to chase them all off with a large broom. The trio raced for cover as the man with the sweeper charged after them, chasing them for a block or two before finally giving up and heading back to his store. The three had continued in a mad dash, not really looking where they were going until they lept over a medium steel fence and collapsed along the brick wall of a massive building, catching their breath.

"Dude..." Chad was shaking his head, a big grin on his face. "This has been great!"

"Yea!" David nodded with a chuckle. "Remember the look on that one guys face when you did that one thing that really ticked him off?" The trio busted up laughing once more and it wasn't until a few minutes later that they finally calmed down enough to start talking again.

"Man..." Jason glanced over at David. "You do realize that you just said an entire sentence without using any real descriptive words and we all three knew what you meant?"

"Yea well, great minds think alike, right?" Chad folded his hands behind his head and leaned up against the wall of the building. "So anyone know where we are?"

David shook his head and looked around. "I have no idea..."

Jason had stood up and was now wandering around the building. "Hey guys, check it out." The windian motioned to a door that he was standing in front of. "We appear to be outside of the Windian Library back room."

Chad and David stepped over to their friend and glanced at the door. "No Entry?" Chad read the sign and raised his eyebrows curiously. "I wonder what they've got back here that's so special?"

"Guess there's only one way to find out." The trio stood around and waited as David managed the jimmy the lock of the door open with a paperclip that he carried around for occasions like this. In the next instant the door was open and the trio stepped into the dark, musty room of the libraries forgotten and stored books.
