Life at Windian High

"Now why would they have these things locked up away from people?" Chad was gazing at some of the shelves of books that the trio had found in the back room of the library.

"Probably a lot of out-dated stuff." David pulled out a couple books and flipped through them. "Yea, these do look kinda old you know."

"Helloooo..." Jason was glancing over a few shelves as a large worn book caught his attention. He pulled it out and glanced at the old leather cover. "Spellbound?"

"Huh?" Chad put his book away and walked over to where Jason was, glancing over his shoulder. David soon joined the two and they all stared in wonder at the relic that Jason had found.

"What is it?" David asked as Jason flipped the book open and glanced through it.

"Old spell book I guess... really old, I've never heard of these things before."

"Demonfire?" Chad scratched at his goatee for a moment. "Sanctuary? Those sound like kinda big spells." Chad continued to glance at the book. "Dude, Death? Cool! We never get to learn these spells anywhere else!"

"Probably a reason for that." David fidgeted uneasily. "Why don't we put the book up and go?"

"No no," Jason was shaking his head as he looked through the book. "Man, look at these things! These are like... huge spells!" He continued to flip through the book, suddenly pausing at a page as a malicious grin passed over his face. "Holy shit! I don't believe it!"

"What?" Chad was staring at the book. "What is it?"

"It's the Dragon Song... you know, the one that hurts all dragons?"

"You're kidding..." David stared at the book in wonder. Jason was shaking his head, still grinning.

"No... man... it's all right here..." He continued to flip through the book, his face paling as he stopped on one page and stared down at the book in wonder. "Holy shit..."

"What?" Chad and David echoed their questions as they peered over Jason's shoulder again. The red haired windian shook his head and slammed the book shut.

"Nothing, forget it, let's just get out of here." He placed the book back on the shelf that he had found it on and made his way out of the small back room. Chad and David exchanged glances before they followed their friend, closing the door behind them as they left. The trio made their way back to Windian Park before they split off and headed their seperate ways.

The goal had been achieved. Jason's mood had definantly gotten better since the day in town. The only thing that really troubled the windian as he walked home was the book that he had found in the library's back room. He kept thinking about the pages he had seen, the spells he had glanced over. It's no wonder, the windian thought to himself, that they keep those books locked away. After all, what good would it be to have a book floating around the Windian Library with a page dedicated to the recipe for Xeon gas? Fucking weird stuff written in that book...
