Life at Windian High

Nate Trinity... Nate is a man of many ambitions.

It comes to no surprise that Nate is always striving to become number one. It was the wish of someone close to him to strive to become the best.

However, many things had hindered the young man. To his parents, he was nothing but a tool. They only saw him as the heir to the Trinity family trust. Work always came before Nate, and that turned a happy child into a cold, uncaring one.

Fortunately, there was Alfred, the Trinity's butler. The old Englishman was there for him. He acted like a father to Nate, giving the young man the love and support that one needed.

Unfortunately, the past is always with the present. Nate is still cold and seems like he doesn't care about anything. It is this attitude, though that hinders him to become number one.

Back in Lunarvale, the teen had many interests. Some of them could not be pursued, since his parents wouldn't allow it. Most of them were allowed... Piano, Debate, Speech Writing... These were skills deemed worthy by the Trinity household. But not one of Nate's true favorites; baseball.

Nate has always loved the sport. His parents, however, were overprotective. They saw this as a barbaric skill, one not required by a person of status.

That didn't stop Nate, though. He played games when he could back at St. Hermelin. He had some trouble though, as his demeanor always got in the way. Rarely did he play... but he did practice... in secret. Nate was a top notch pitcher, but could not join his high school team, because of his parents. This too may have been a factor to why the young man is cold and snobbish.

Though now in Windia, he may have a chance... another chance to restart his life... To put those skills to the test. His parents have no influence over him anymore. Though like I have stated before, the past always returns to haunt the present. In the future, Nate will meet his parents again... And the results may be disastrous.

How do I know all this? How can I tell? Simple. I am the man who knows the Persona Users all too well. I can sense when something is troubling them. They are the ones who helped Lunarvale and Windia when things went awry.

Who am I, you ask? My name is Philemon. The Persona Users are my charge. It is their choice to stay in Windia. I do not mind. Ladon has allowed it, as have I.

Please, come forward. I would like to show you Nate Trinity. Shall we see how he is doing? Just gaze into the pool...

**************************************************

No one's here... good.

Nate Trinity adjusted his scarf before he grabbed the bucket of baseballs that was beside him. The Persona User made his way to a secluded area of the school's courtyard before setting up an archery target. Since he had no one to catch for him, this was the best he could do.

The Persona User casually tossed a ball up into the air before catching it in his glove. Nate then wound up, tossed, and nailed the bullseye of the target.

"Nice!!!" A voice said from behind him.

Nate turned and noticed Ryan Chiba watching him. The woren's tail was waving in interest.

"You... you saw that?" Nate stammered out.

The woren shrugged. "Nothing big, actually. So, what's up?"

Nate grabbed another baseball and pitched it at his target. Satisfied that his curve ball hit properly, he turned to Ryan once more.

"Nothing much, actually. Just killing time..."

Ryan watched the Persona User with interest. "You're good, you know that?"

"What would you know, anyhow?" Nate said in his usual snobbish tone.

Being accustomed to Nate's attitude, Ryan merely answered. "Well, for starters, you nailed the target in the center each time you pitched! And that you've got a wide variety of pitches..."

Nate wound up and threw another curve ball. Once more, it hit the edge of the bullseye.

"Doesn't this beat all... You're good! You should join the team!" Ryan said in awe.

Nate snorted. "I don't know, Ryan... I never played team sports..."

Ryan looked at the Persona User in surprise. "Why not?"

"Look, just mind your business, okay?" Nate said angrily. He punctuated his anger by throwing the baseball as hard as he could at the target.

Ryan frowned. "All right... all right... Jeez Nate..."

Nate looked at Ryan again. "Look... I'm sorry, but could you leave me alone for a bit?"

The woren nodded, wondering what he had done to set off his friend's short fuse.

**************************************************

What you have seen now is a mask; One that Nate Trinity has put on to show who he really is. Time will tell if he decides to remove this mask. The only question is... what will cause him to remove it??? Will this young man be destined to live so cold?

Go now... Time will bring you back, and time will tell if this Persona User will change...

And with those words, Philemon gave a bow before...

**************************************************

"Huh?" Nate said as he shot up.

The dream was real. He did all that earlier in the day, before he fell asleep on one of the benches in the park.

Nate stood, adjusted his scarf so that the #1 could be scene, and began to walk.

The Persona User caught a glimpse of Frank and Brandon sparring, before he returned to his thoughts.

That was odd... I'm not like that, am I? Who cares, anyhow. But still... What did Philemon mean?

Nate shrugged before picking up a rock and tossing it across a pond, making it skip the entire way.
