Life at Windian High

The four WINGS members were walking up one of the trails in Windian Park heading towards the angel fountain. Justin and David were busy talking about the upcoming wrestling match they each had. Jason and Chad were snatching up small rocks and trying to see who could juggle more items the fastest without dropping too many.

"Twelve!" Chad called out the number of rocks he was currently keeping track of.

"Twelve?" Jason shot him a quick, unbelieving glance before turning his attention back to his own collection of rocks.

"Well, nine now... eight... six..."

Jason chuckled to himself and dove to catch another rock that David had tossed into his juggling circle. The windian's steps wobbled carefully as he did his best to keep the falling objects under control.

"Eight for me right now." Jason grinned.

"Can't you two find something more interesting to do?" Justin glanced between the two jugglers.

"Hey," Chad started, "you think it's fun rolling around with a bunch of sweaty guys, and we think it's fun throwing rocks in the air and catching them."

"Well, there's something else that I think is a lot of fun too..." Jason caught the eight rocks he'd been juggling and trained his eyes on the blue-haired figure sitting on the edge of the angel fountain, reading what looked to be a history book. Jason motioned for his friends to stop walking and pointed. "There's our dragon now, looking like he's really got his nose buried in some studying material. Whattya say we help him take a little break, huh?" Jason held up one of his stones and took careful aim at the blue-haired figure.

Ray had barely any time to register the little rock flying past him before it landed with a splash in the fountain. Without even a glance in the direction it came from, Ray snapped his book closed and stood up.

"Hey Brat," he called out quickly for his sister who had been skipping around happily after a few butterflies. She turned and glanced curiously at him. "Come on," Ray called out again, "we're heading home."

"Already?" Britney pouted as she trotted up to her brother.

"Yea, already?" Jason's taunting call came from a few yards behind Ray as the dragon began to hurry his sister along. Britney glanced over her shoulder to see the four WINGS members appraching, Jason in the lead, wearing a dangerous grin on his face.

Britney tugged on her brother's slee lightly. "Ray... those mean people are back."

"I know, Brat. Come on, just keep walking towards home and ignore them." He began shoving his sister in the direction of home. Britney reluctantly sped up in her walk.

"Hey dragon! No one said you could leave yet!" Jason's call was followed by the painful accuracy of one of the small rock he had aimed at the back of Ray's head. Ray urged his sister onward again before turning to face the small WINGS group there were stepping up to him. They stopped a few yards away from Ray, Jason was tossing another small rock about in the air and he smirked at the dragon.

"What do you want?" Ray asked quietly.

Jason shrugged his shoulders and flicked the rock at Ray, allowing it to land just at the dragon's feet. "We just came up to say 'hi.' You're the one who's running off in a hurry."

Ray made no reply and Jason and the others stepped up closer to him.

"What's the matter dragon? Woren got your tongue?" Jason brought his face up close to Ray's. The dragon's eyes glanced downward, unable to meet the solid look of the red-haired windian. Jason growled quietly. "Look at me when I'm talking to you, dragon! Don't you know you should answer whenever people speak to you?"

A few chuckles sounded from the other three WINGS. Ray took a breath and closed his eyes, knowing what would soon come next, and hoping that Britney hadn't stopped to turn around and watch. He didn't have to wait all too long. The impact of Jason's fist hitting Ray's face came all too quickly.

"Geez, Jason! You creamed the guy!" Chad chuckled lightly. "Ten by the way." The small WINGS group had gone back to their earlier distractions after their few minutes of pounding on Ray. They had last left the dragon hunched over and bleeding by the fountain. Justin's reminder that he had an appointment to keep with one of the school's coaches was the only thing that caused them to leave the dragon behind.

"Yea well, I like playing around with my prey before really finishing it off. Nine here." Jason tossed around the small rocks carefully.

"You've got some of the worst punches I've ever seen." Justin grinned. "And I mean that in a good way. Where did you learn to hit like that anyway?"

"I dunno, you just kind of pick it up after a while. David, toss me another one." David bent over and picked up another rock, tossing it into Jason's juggling circle. The windian made a grab at it but in turn knocked two more rocks to the ground. "Oh shit, now I'm down to eight."

"A little too confident." Chad chuckled again.

"Maybe." The WINGS group continued on their walk out of the park and towards the school.
