Journal of the Windian Trio

It was still lunch time and the trio were still in Vagger's room. After recovering from their fits of laughter, Chad had gone back to studying for his Chem test while Jason had produced a history book from his bag and was reading through one of the chapters. For one brief moment, every member of the Windian Trio was actually working on something relevent and school related. That moment only lasted about two minutes before Chad looked up and shattered the whole thing.

"Dude, I didn't even notice that." Chad blinked in amazement as he glanced up from his Chem notes. David cast a curious look at his friend.

"Notice what?"

"That!" Chad pointed.

"Oh," Jason raised his head from the book he was reading and gazed in the direction Chad was pointing. "You mean that giant white poster that covers up half of the wall and just screams 'NOTICE ME!'"

"... yea... that one..." Chad stroked his goattee lightly and chuckled. "I didn't notice it..."

"Well then that makes three of us." Jason shrugged and closed his book, tossing it back into his bag as he hopped off the desk he was sitting on and headed over to the poster.

"So what's it say?" David had already turned back to his homework. Chad was still drumming his fingers idley on his notes as he watched Jason look the poster over.

"Apparently it's a sign up for a field trip."

"A field trip?" Chad's wings flexed open and closed. "Vagger's holding a field trip? No fair! I wanna be in Vagger's class and go on a field trip!"

"Well, actually it says it's open to all students." Jason continued to read the poster. "Vagger and Windford have set up a 'Torana Culture's' field trip that will count as extra credit for most history and english classes."

"Dude you're kidding!" Chad's eyes went wide, and now even David was looking over at the poster in wonder. "Really?"

"Yea, they've got a list of the classes here that will accept this as extra credit..." Jason glanced down the list. "Our history classes are on here... David, I think I see your english class listed here..."

"Really?" David was out of his seat and over at the poster in a flash. "Man... I do kinda need more credit in that class, and a field trip doesn't sound like such a bad idea..."

"So why don't you sign up?" Jason glanced over the poster. "It says here that they'll take about twenty students on this, and it looks like there's still room for five more, so you could sign up right now and get in on it."

"Yea but..." David popped his knuckles as he stared at the poster. "Heh, look at some of the people who've signed up. I don't know a lot of these guys.. it wouldn't be as fun if I don't know anyone..."

"Dude," Jason looked over at his friend. "Are you hinting at something? You'd better not be hinting at something because I fucking hate it when people hint at things. Just go out and say it."

"I think we should all sign up for this!"

Jason and Chad just stared at each other. It was Chad who spoke up first, opening and closing his wings uneasily as he gave David an uncertain look. "Uh... I guess extra credit is cool?"

"A field trip? A fucking field trip??"

"Well look." David pointed to the poster. "It's got all the info here. Two day trip over to the Woren Reservation that's south of here, stay there for a while, two day trip back home. That's about four days out of Windia. It's over the weekend, we'd only miss a couple days of school, Friday and Monday. We've got to bring stuff for camping because we're walking there, but it doesn't cost any zenny or anything so it's totally doable. Man, come on guys, wouldn't it be cool!?"

Chad and Jason just exchanged glances again. Once more, Chad was the first one to speak up.

"Dude... doesn't that sound like something I'd be asking us to do?"

"Yea well, I guess it's David's turn to come up with the annoying ideas." Jason rolled his eyes. "I for one am not too wild about running off to some place in the middle of nowhere for four days and being stuck with twenty other people and two teachers..."

"Well look at it this way." David considered his friend for a moment. "It's four days away from Troy."

That was enough to perk Jason's interest. "Huh... and when is this trip?"

David laughed and checked the poster. "It's uh... this Friday actually. Talk to Vagger or Windford for a permission slip, get it signed by parents, get packed and bring your stuff to school with you Friday. The people going will meet out in the courtyard and head out, and should be back by Monday." David turned and looked at Chad. "Well? What about you, you up for it?"

"Uh..." Chad was once again flexing his wings open and closed. "I guess? I mean..." he glanced between his two friends, "if you two are going.... why not?"

"YES!" David did a victory pose. "Extra credit! I'll get those grades back up before you know it!"

"So all we have to do is get a hold of Windford or Vagger?" Jason rubbed the back of his neck curiously. David opened his mouth to say something when a voice suddenly interrupted him.

"Get a hold of me for what?" The trio hadn't noticed, but as they were talking a large stack of cardboard boxes and walked into the room. This stack was being held up by a woren wearing a letterman's jacket. The woren had blondish fur, and burnt red stripes that marked his face, arms and tail. Vagger's hair, as well, was blonde but almost seemed to be striped with the same red markings that covered his body. One of the woren's most notable features where his odd colored eyes. His right eye was a dull grey color, while his left was a deep green. Often students asked if the different eye colors affected his vision any. Vagger enjoyed telling people who asked him that question that if he closed one eye, he'd see the world in a different color tint then if he closed the other eye. The young teacher would then keep tab of how many people actually took him serious when he told them this, and was currently running a bet with a couple of his class periods on how many students he could find to actually believe his story. The woren set down his stack of boxes next to his desk and turned to the trio, waiting for them to answer his question. David just motioned with a jerk of his finger to the poster.

"Get a hold of you for that."

"Oh, the field trip?" Vagger batted an ear and looked between the three windians. "Do you guys want to sign up? We still have a few spots open. Here..." he unlocked his desk drawer and began to shuffle through some of his papers, finally pulling out three permission slips. "These need to be filled out by your teachers and parents, and then all you have to do is bring them back to me or Windford and you're in."

The trio just stared in wonder as Vagger walked up and handed them all the slips for the field trip. As the bell rang, signaling the end of lunch, the three exchanged glances before packing up there things and heading out of the classroom and into the hallway.

"Dude, you know... it's really obvious that when a teacher walks into a classroom, sees the three of us together, and then doesn't act at all alarmed, then that teacher obviously hasn't had us in any of his classes..." Chad was stroking his goattee.

"Especially when that very same teacher then invites all three of us to head out on a field trip together." David chuckled. "Poor Vagger... he seems like such a cool teacher, I mean I've heard stories from people who've had his classes, so I almost feel bad about what it's gonna be like when he has to deal with us for four days."

Chad laughed. "Dude, yea, but he's a teacher, so he's gotta learn somehow."

"Isn't this his first or second year working here?" David popped his knuckles idly as the trio stopped by their lockers. "Vagger... yea... he's the guy that graduated from here, and then came back to teach some of the classes." The wrestler chuckled. "How sad is that? Coming back to Windian High?"

"Dude, who am I to question the man that offers us field trips?" Chad shrugged his shoulders, his wings flexing open and closed. "Anyway, now I just can't wait. Dude! This is going to be so cool!"

"Four days out of Windia!" David flashed a thumbs up.

"Four days out of the house." Jason rubbed his eyes with a groan.

"Four days to just hang out with my best buds!" Chad hooked an arm around the shoulder of each of his friends and grinned. Jason and David exchanged glances before turning to Chad. "... what?"

"Wait..." David blinked. "Wait, there it is... that omnious feeling I'm always getting..."

"Dude." Chad rolled his eyes. "You and that omnious little storm cloud. Anyway, let's go before we all end up being late to-" Chad was interrupted by the sound of the bell ringing, signaling the ending of passing time and the beginning of the class period. "... class...." The windian flexed his wings open and closed again. "Well.... alright then.... I'll see you all later." With a chuckled, the trio split off in their seperate ways in hopes of not being too much later to their fourth period classes.
