Chapter 22

Frank and Kate slowly made their way to the entrance of the colliseum, both glad that there were no more demons left to attack them.

Frank slowly glanced back to see if Tellka was there. He wanted to ask her some things, but unfortunately for him...

"I guess she disappeared again. Man, I'm... kinda confused..." Frank said quietly. Kate chose that moment to look at him.

"What are you thinking about, Frank?" Kate asked as she leaned a bit closer to Frank.

"God, she's cute when she's like that..." Frank thought to himself. He shook his head slightly before responding.

"Nothing, really." Frank lied. He didn't want to bother Kate with any questions about what Tellka had said, or the last thing he had heard from her before she went back to her spirit form.

Kate said nothing, but continued to look ahead as both of them made their way to the entrance of the colliseum.

"God, my entire body hurts..." Frank thought to himself.

"Of course it does, Frank. You were slammed into a wall." Katt replied sarcastically.

"I know, Katt. I know what happened." Frank just replied back.

"Frank..." This time, Nina was the one speaking to him.

"Nina? What's up?" Frank asked.

"You won't be able to call on us for a bit. You're hurt and tired. Even if you drink some of that medicine you're carrying, it still won't help. You need some sleep." She said to him quietly.

"Ok, Nina. Thanks." Frank replied.

Frank looked ahead, and saw something that made his eyes light up: The exit.

"Finally. We can get out of here." Frank said quietly. Kate looked at him and smiled.

"What's going to happen to you?" Kate asked him. Frank looked at her and noticed that her ears were drooped and her tail had stopped moving.

"I... I really don't know, Kate. I need some time to think about these things... Lunarvale... Windia... I'm... not sure..." Frank answered tiredly and with a hint of pain in his voice.

"You okay?" Kate asked him.

"Somewhat. My body hurts... I'm exhausted. But I'll live." What Frank didn't mention was that he was now unsure if he wanted to go back home.

Both of them exited the colliseum and entered a clear, moonlit Windian night. Both of them were going to walk off together, when Kate spotted another guard nearby.

"Frank... remember that guard in the colliseum? She asked us to talk to the other guard out here. And..." Frank cut Kate off.

"I'm on it." Frank whistled loudly, which got the guard's attention. He rushed over to Frank and Kate.

"What happened to you two? You look like you've been fighting..." Frank cut him off.

"Please. Don't remind us. That's the last thing we need more of." The guard looked at them curiously.

"What happened in there? There was a flash of light in the doorway, then..." Kate cut him off.

"Nathaniel Redwing... over ran the place with monsters. They nearly killed us..." She started.

"But we made it. Turns out Redwing himself was a demon. Here. Maria can vouch for us." Frank finished up as he fished Maria's ID out of his pants pocket and gave it to the guard.

"Maria! Is she safe???" The guard asked as he took the ID from Frank.

"She is. We moved her to the armory and locked the door." Kate explained.

"What about Redwing? I heard of what he's done but we couldn't gather enough evidence..." Frank answered this one.

"He's dead. He morphed into his true form, and tried to kill us. You'll find all the evidence you'll need in his private room, and the secret room behind it." Frank explained tiredly. The guard nodded slowly.

"I'd better go check on Maria. She was looking for a girl named Kate when..." The guard stopped talking.

"Kate's with me. Don't worry. I'm taking her home." The guard nodded, then ran into the colliseum to look for his partner. Frank and Kate then began to walk off.

Halfway towards Kate's home, Frank noticed that she was shivering. After all, all she was wearing were the opened toed boots and a tank top. Frank took his jacket off and put it around her.

Kate looked up at Frank. "What about you? Won't you get cold?"

Frank shook his head. "Nah... I'm used to cold places. I'll be fine. Besides, you need it more than I do at the moment.

Kate smiled at him. "Thank you, Frank... Thanks." She said as she leaned on him again.

"Anytime. Now let's get going. The sooner we reach your house, the less that Carrie is going to be worried about you." Frank explained. He put an arm around Kate and began walking.

Kate directed Frank in different twists and turns throughout the streets of Windia. As they were walking, Frank noticed the park that he had appeared in when he first arrived in Windia.

"That's where it started... Where this adventure of mine began. I wonder... Why am I really here?" Frank thought to himself.

"Frank? You OK?" Kate asked him.

"Yeah... I've just got alot on my mind." Frank explained.

Kate smiled, then remembered something. "Here. You lost this back in the colliseum." Kate said as she handed him the shotgun with both hands.

"Thanks. I'll load it later." Frank said as he took his gun from Kate and slung it on his back.

Both of them continued onward, until they finally reached Kate's home. Both of them looked at each other, before Kate nodded. Frank nodded back then knocked on the door.

The door slowly opened and an elderly Windian woman apperared.

"This must be Carrie... Carrie Harlow." Frank thought to himself.

"Yes... What can... Kate!!!!" She exclaimed out.

"She must have been worried...." Frank thought.

"Ms. Harlow..." Frank started. Carrie turned and looked at Frank. "I brought Kate back, safe and sound."
