Chapter 25

I can't believe I left her... But... I know... I'll be back... Later on...

As I walked down the street, a high school caught my eyes... It was no St. Hermelin, but it was a high school, no doubt about that.

Hmm... school... I might end up there, if I can't get home... or if I don't want...

Persona Chuan: What are you saying, Frank???

Nothing, Katt... nothing at all....

School could wait, for now. I know that I need to graduate, but first things first. I need to find out about this diamond.

The library... That's where I could find out about it.... But where's the closest library???

I took a seat on a nearby bench, and searched my pack. Carrie certainly gave me alot of things, including a map of the city. I unfolded the thing, and searched for my location.

"Heh heh... I'm here..." I pointed to my location on my handy map. "But the Traveler's Checks... are here." I pointed to the local branch of the Windian National Library on the map.

"Let's see... Take a left here... It's down the road a bit..." I folded the map as neatly as I could, then made my way to the local library.

Wow... Reminds me of the local library back home... just bigger... and cleaner....

I entered the building, and approached the librarian. She was a Windian, dressed in dress clothes, and glasses, of course. She also had noticible white wings. She looked up from whatever book she was reading and spoke to me.

"May I help you???" She said casually.

"Um... yeah... I was hoping to find some books on the history of the city... Along with some books on some local relics???"

"Another one, huh?" My eyes shot up as she said that.

"What... what do you mean, ma'am?"

I think the librarian actually sighed before adjusting her glasses. "We get two kinds of people who actually ask for those. Students from the high school, or intrepid adventurers. You sort of look like a little bit of both, but the emblem on your jacket isn't the school's."

So... the schools here have the same types of uniforms... interesting....

"You're right... I'm a bit of both... I need to look for a relic to give me some answers I desperately need." I said, hoping that she wouldn't ask me anymore questions.

Luckilly, she didn't. She pointed in the direction I needed to go, and recommended some books for me to look at. I thanked her, and made my way to the proper shelves, grabbed some books, and took a seat at one of the tables.

Ah... Relics of Old... What an appropriate title, for an old, dusty, book...

I flipped said book open, and leafed through it until I was in the section about the diamonds. My eyes widened as I read about them.

Whoa... there's more than just the truth diamond???? There are alot... Paradox, Night, Love... This gets more interesting by the minute....

Let's see... here we go... The Diamond of Truth... It's a multi-colored gem... Last seen in Agua. Where though.... It's not known... perfect... I don't think they have copy machines in Windia... And I don't think I can check the book out...

I went through my pack again, and found a notebook there as well as a pen... Mentally, I thanked Carrie again, and began to take notes on the gem I was looking for. Unfortunately, lack of sleep caught up with me, and I went out while taking notes.

**************************************************************************

I looked around... It was so empty... just like the void between time and space... Suddenly... I heard the same voice that helped me get to Windia.

"Are you the one???"

Huh??? What does she mean????

"Are you the one???" Now I'm confused. What is that supposed to mean?

"What do you mean by that? Why am I the one??"

Nothing... No more... she said nothing else, leaving me quite confused.

This time, a bright flash lit up the area, and I shielded my eyes. When they opened, I saw a group of eight people, walking out of... something... and each returned to their town. One of them I recognized: Nina Winlan. This had to be a Destined Cycle she's told me about.

"The Destined Ones??? Huh??? What's going on??? I don't...."

Another flash, and I was alone once more. All I heard was that voice.

"You will understand soon enough..." The voice told me. Who was this person???

I think I shook my head. Now I was more confused than ever. Was that voice real? Was there a person like this alive? Here in Windia??? I just don't....

************************************************

Someone was shaking me, trying to wake me up.

"Sir, you must leave! The library is closing now." I lifted my head, and saw the librarian trying to get me up.

"Huh?? Oh... I'm terribly sorry. I didn't mean to..." The librarian just shook her head and looked at me.

"Please leave. Those books will be here tomorrow. I hope you found them useful, other than using them as pillows." I think she gave me a stern look. It then softened when she saw how full my notebook was with information.

"I'll put these up. You must go now so I can lock up."

"Thanks... Can you tell me where the closest inn is?"

Once again, the librarian gave me another weird look. I guess it's because she doesn't know about where I actually came from.

"There's one just up the road from here. Look for a sign that says "The Angel's Wing". It's a nice place, with a reasonable cost."

I thanked the librarian, and made my way out to the streets of Central Windia. It was getting dark. How long was I asleep in there? I sighed, and made my way to the inn.

The only thought that crossed my mind that night was this.

This is getting more confusing by the minute... I've got more answers to look for now... Why me? Why did all this have to happen?
