Chapter 29

To be honest with you, this cathedral was one of the best places I've been to so far in Windia. It was nice and quiet, calming, and peaceful. I was drifting off into my own little place when a voice shook me out of it.

"What... what do you want?!" The voice said. It was obviously the girl who was in here praying, but her voice seemed odd. Sort of like it was untrusting, cold, and like she wanted nothing to do with anyone.

Katt: So cold... I wonder...

What's up?

Katt: It's not important yet, Frank.

Sure Katt. Whatever you say.

Ryu: Just be careful on what you say. I know that you're nice and all, just don't try and over do it.

Right. Thanks Ryu.

I slowly looked up at her. I still couldn't make out any features, since the lighting wasn't that great in here.

"Huh?" I answered. "No. I'll wait until you've finished your prayer. I'm sorry if I disturbed you."

As I talked, I noticed that she was quickly trying to wipe her cheek. Was she crying??? If so, what about?

"Wh... What?" She said as she stood up. She acted like she had never heard someone say something like that before.

"Er... I'm done praying." She told me quietly. Still, she kept her distance as we talked.

I crossed my arms, thinking, before speaking again.

"Listen... Why don't we talk outside? I know it's wrong to be doing this inside a church."

"Um.." She said quietly. "I... um... I'm sorry I bothered you." She said as she walked past me. That's when I finally got a good look at her.

Katt: Hey... she's Woren! But shamanized...

Shamanized? What in the world does that mean?

Katt: Well... when I was alive, we fused with Shamans for additional power. It changed our appearances sometimes. She looks remarkably like me, shamanized, except for those small wings... Hmm...

I followed her out, and began to speak as soon as we exited and were in the cathedral courtyard.

"You didn't bother me, miss... I think it was the other way around. I'm sorry." I explained casually. She just remained silent. I decided now was the time to ask.

"I was wondering if you could help me. I'm looking for a relic... the Diamond of Truth..." I said quietly. She looked up at me.

"......"

So cold... I wonder what happened to you to make you like this...

"Er... I never did introduce myself." I extended a hand in greeting. "My name's Frank. Frank Maynard. And you are..."

She stared down at my hand, then looked back up at me.

"......"

Ouch... I think I'm actually getting frostbite...

"Another one after the diamond..." She shook her head. "It's down that way, seventh cathedral to the left. It's the one with the weird doors that have the odd carvings in it."

Wait... another one? What...

"Um... what do you mean by, 'another one?'"

She shook her head lightly, then turned to me.

"No one has ever been in there, and come back alive except for a lucky few. Even then, they were so unstable that they had to be locked away..."

Katt: This seems like it's getting more dangerous by the second.

I don't care. If I survived St. Hermelin, and the Colliseum... then I can survive this.

Katt: You are brave, Frank. Another reason why I chose you...

I looked ... er... this girl in the eyes. "It's a risk that I have to take. I've got alot of questions that remained unanswered, and I know that this relic can help me... Thank you, er..."

"......"

Ouch... her personality is hurting me... I wonder what made her like this...

"Right then." I called as she left. "I'll see you." I then turned to the direction of the cathedral, and made my way there.

After a short walk. I was in front of the cathedral. I looked up at it. It wasn't exactly breathtaking, but the design was somewhat weird...

This is it...

I pulled out my notebook, and opened it to the section where I had everything I needed to know about the diamond.

The entrance... is in the basement... I found the cathedral, thanks to that girl... I'm close to getting that diamond...

So I proceeded downstairs, and found a pair of ornate doors. I approached carefully, but was stopped by a booming voice.

"You wish to enter, but you are not prepared..."

Not prepared... oh no...

"Four others must be with you, young hero."

??? Young hero? I pulled my notebook out on instinct, and wrote down the clues as the voice listed them.

"The four you need are;"

"One like you..."

"A girl that you care for deeply..."

"Another girl who looks at the world in a hateful way..."

"The Blue Winged Angel who sent you here."

I wrote down each little clue carefully, then scanned them.

How in God's name will I find all of them? I don't know... I know about Kate, but the others?

This was getting worse by the second... But I wouldn't let that stop me. I can do this.
