Chapter 10

Tellka pressed on, with Kate and Frank walking side by side toward the weapons room.

As they slowly made their way toward the Colliseum armory, Kate and Frank were talking amogst themselves, with Frank telling her about Lunarvale, and Kate telling him about what has happened to her so far in Windia.

Of course, all three of them did have to fight off monsters and demons. There was one instance, however, where Frank amazed both Kate and Tellka with his skills.

Another group of demons came out from seemingly nowhere. Tellka got ready to charge in and strike a blow, when Frank held her back.

"Hold it..."

"Are you nuts?! Those things are going to get the first strike in!" Tellka hissed.

"What are you planning to do?" Kate asked him.

Frank took a closer look at the demons. These looked like members of the Angel Clan, but instead, they all had red eyes, waist length silver hair, black wings, and were all females in outfits that left very little to the imagination.

"Human...." The one in front started. Kate and Tellka were surprised, and then glanced at Frank.

Frank folded his arms. "What do you want?"

"We were told to hunt you and the other two woren with you..." Tellka gripped her staff while Kate shuddered and tightened her already tight grip on the rapier.

"But we don't want to do harm to you or your friends." Frank raised an eyebrow, while Kate and Tellka looked at each other, then Frank again.

"Oh? Why is that?" Frank asked.

"I don't know... It's this feeling I have..." The demoness said sadly.

"They sound sad... Let's see... I can start singing to cheer them up, try telling jokes, or listen to their problems. I'm not going to try and persuade them... It's not going to help at the moment." He thought to himself.

Frank decided to sing. He broke out singing "Good Riddance" by Green Day. Instantly, the demoness in front began to cheer up.

"Oh! I haven't heard anyone sing like that before!" She said to Frank. "Could you please continue?" It asked.

Frank looked over at Kate and Tellka, and noticed Kate whispering something to Tellka. Tellka nodded and looked at Frank with curiosity. Kate then looked at Frank.

"Go ahead. What harm could it to?" Kate said.

Frank nodded, and turned to the demoness once again. This time, he started to sing "Closing Time" by Semisonic.

"Wonderful!!!" The demoness said with a happy yet interested tone. "Thank you, young man. You have helped us a lot." It continued. Frank noticed a smile on all of their faces. "How can we repay you?" The lead demoness asked.

Frank thought once again. "Maybe these beings have spell cards as well... It's worth a shot."

"Can I have your spell card?" Frank asked.

The demoness smiled. "Of course you can! Here, take this as well." The demoness threw Frank a ring with a cat's eye stone. Frank looked at it, and nodded before pocketing it.

"Here's my spell card. Take it, and use it wisely." Frank nodded, and noticed the Spell Card floating above him, twirlling. He reached up and plucked it out of mid-air.

"Be careful, human. Nathaniel Redwing will not stop until he has your head on a platter." The demoness told him.

"We'll be careful. Thanks." Frank replied. The demoness smiled once again, and left, while chatting idly with her friends.

"What in the world?" Tellka asked Frank.

"I didn't know you could sing like that!" Kate told Frank.

"That's why I'm in the Drama Club with Alex." Kate and Tellka looked at each other.

"How did you know..." Kate started.

"It was a gut feeling. I knew that they didn't want to fight." he simply replied.

"Incredible..." Tellka said in amazement. "We're almost to the armory. Let's keep going." She said. Tellka walked ahead, while Kate and Frank walked side by side.

Eventually, they were in sight of the Armory. Tellka was far ahead of them. She tried to open the door, but it was locked.

Frank noticed that Tellka looked at Kate. Kate looked back, looked at Frank, and then nodded at Tellka once again.

"Kate, whats up?" Frank asked. He looked at Tellka, then dropped his mouth in shock.

Tellka shifted into a spirit form, and disappeared behind the door. Frank turned to Kate.

"Kate, you got some 'splaining to do..." He said, doing his best imitation of Ricky Ricardo.

Kate looked at her feet before looking at Frank. "Well, Frank it's like this..." She was cut off by the hissing of demons.

Frank and Kate turned slowly, and found about fifteen of those red demons approaching them quickly.

Kate started backing away, as did Frank. Frank looked at Kate.

"We have one word for this... RUN!!!" He yelled. Kate ran ahead, with Frank following.

Unfortunately, Kate yelped in pain, and fell.

"KATE!!!!" Frank yelled. He stopped beside Kate, and knelt down beside her. He looked up, and noticed Tellka standing in the now open door, with a look of concern on her face.

"My ankle... I twisted it..." Kate said, with pain and fear in her voice.

Frank scooped Kate up, cradling her in his arms. She put her arms around Frank's neck, so she wouldn't fall. Frank noticed how soft her fur was. He then noticed her ankle, which was now starting to swell.

"I'll get you to safety. Don't worry." Frank whispered.

"Thank you, Frank." Kate told him. Frank looked around and noticed the demons were gaining ground.

Frank ran as fast as he could with Kate in his arms. He made it to the door, and heard Tellka yelling at them.

"Hurry!!! Get inside!!!" She yelled as Frank passed her and ran into the room sideways, so he wouldn't hit Kate's head on the door frame.

As soon as they were safely in, Tellka slammed the door shut and locked it. They could hear the demons banging on the door.

"Are you both OK?" Tellka asked.

Frank and Kate looked at each other, then at Tellka, with looks on their faces that showed like they were annoyed.

"I guess not..." Tellka said.
