Chapter 28

Nina: This place has certainly changed....

Oh? What was Agua like when you were alive, Nina?

Nina: Well, for one thing, it was quiet. Too quiet. And the place was full of undead and poisonus monsters.

Heh... sorry I asked.

Agua during the day was certainly something to see. It was still darker than the outside world, but it was sort of like the darkness under the shade of a tree. Very nice. And the cathedrals here... Oh man... don't get me started...

If fact, After I left the inn, I was looking at a cathedral. You know, the one that was just across from the inn.

Wow... This reminds me of the Notre Dame....

Katt: Not... Notre.... Dame?????

Ryu: Sounds very interesting...

Nina: What exactly is this... Notre Dame?

Hah. I kind of figured that you guys wouldn't know, considering that you all lived in this world. Notre Dame is a famous cathedral back home. It's not in the USA, but in France, another country.

Wow... This place was as breath taking as the cathedrals Mr. LeVert described in class back home. I still couldn't beleive it.

Speaking of cathedrals... I haven't been to church in awhile. Between cooking at the Peace Diner, school, and fencing practices...

Ah... who am I kidding? The chances of finding a Catholic church in Windia are about the same as finding a needle in a giant haystack. But still... It wouldn't hurt to look at the cathedrals.

I was about to enter the cathedral, when something caught my attention in the corner of my eye. I looked over, and sure enough, it was a Windian post office. I smiled, and sat under a street lamp.

Ahh... Why not? I've got her address... It'd be good to let Kate know I'm okay.

Katt: You really do care about her, huh?

Course I do, Katt. Course I do. Although... I can't help but have this feeling. I think something may have happened to her.

Ryu: Calm down. I'm sure she's okay.

But still... All right Ryu. Whatever you say.

So I did the logical thing. I pulled my notebook out and began to write;

Dear Kate,
Hey! Bet you wouldn't hear from me in a while. I just wanted to let you know that I'm ok. Wish you were here to see Agua. It's beautiful! All of these cathedrals... I bet that you'd enjoy it. Kate, you're constantly on my mind. Hope you're doing ok. I still have no idea on how close I am to finding the Diamond of Truth. Luck really isn't with me. It seems like that with each question I answer, more and more just pop up.
Well, anyhow, I just wanted to let you know that I'm doing okay... Wait... I said that earlier... heh. Lately, though, I've been having weird dreams of that girl who brought me here to Windia. She even knew my name... And she told me... she needs my help. Weird, huh?
Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you constantly. Give Tellka and Carrie my regards. And Kate, like I said before, I'll visit when I'm close by. Take care now!

Yours truly,
Frank Maynard

Katt: What if she can't read your letter?

Huh?

Katt: She seemed like me when I was her age. I could read and write... barely.

Don't worry. She has Carrie to help her. And I bet she's learning on her own.

Honestly. I do miss her. Hope this letter gets there soon.

So I went to the post office, bought an envelope and payed the postage, and mailed it after addressing the envelope properly.

Now the cathedral.

I approached the cathedral, still in awe by it's beauty.

When I entered, I noticed that the only light inside came from various candles, and from a huge stain glass window that was connected to the outside world. Amazing.

Ryu: Someone's here...

Hmm... Yep. There was someone. A young woman, kneeling in front of a statue.

Ryu: Ladon...

The Dragon God?

Ryu: Of course. Good you remembered from when you and Kate payed a visit to Philemon.

I looked at her.I couldn't make any features out, because of how har I was. But she seemed to be my age, give or take one year. I also had this feeling... That she may be able to help me find the Diamond of Truth.

So I approached quietly, as not to disturb her since we're in a church. It's only polite to do so. Heck, I get angry when people disturb me in church. i just don't show it.

I sat down in one of the pews quietly, and did the most logical thing; wait.
