Chapter 8

Frank closed the door quietly, and backed away from it along with Kate.

Frank looked at both Tellka and Kate. Tellka had a look of confusion and annoyance, while Kate just looked plain scared.

"Where... where did..." Kate stammered out.

"Guess..." Frank just replied.

"This Redwing person is really starting to get on my nerves!" Tellka said in a fit of anger.

Frank just shook his head, before he blew up.

"Why?! Why me?! When I woke up this morning, I was just a normal high school student!!!"

"Frank, calm do-" Frank cut Tellka off with a glare.

"You don't understand... I've lost my friends, I'm away from my family..." Frank continued.

"Frank, please calm down..." Kate asked.

Frank whirled around to look at Kate. He noticed that she was scared, but not just because of the demons that are out in the colliseum, but of his sudden outrage. That was when Frank decided to calm down.

"I'm... I'm sorry..." he explained. "It's just that... so much has happened to me today." Frank said as he looked at the ground.

"We understand..." Tellka said as she walked in front of him. Frank then raised his head to look at her.

"None of us were expecting anything like this to happen today." Tellka started.

"How were you to know that these things would happen?" Tellka continued.

"I... I didn't..." Frank answered.

"Maybe it's just fate, Frank. Maybe your friends were sent to wherever and you were sent here because of fate." Tellka explained to him.

Frank thought for a moment. His gaze went from Tellka to Kate, and the back again.

Kate spoke up quietly. "Frank, if you weren't here, I would have..."

Frank finished the sentence. "been hit by that needle..." Frank looked at Kate and Tellka once again.

"You're right. Maybe it was fate that I was sent here. All I know is that I won't let anything hurt my friends!!!" Frank responded. Kate cracked a small smile, while Tellka had a big grin on her face.

"That's the spirit!" Tellka said as she slapped Frank on the shoulder. "Now that that crisis is solved, we have another to deal with." Kate then spoke up.

"How are we going to get out of here?" Kate asked. She then remembered something. "Carrie... she's probably worried about me."

"Who?" Frank asked.

"Carrie Harlow... she took me in when..." Kate couldn't bring herself to finish the sentence.

Frank walked over to Kate. "It's okay, Kate. You don't have to talk if you don't want to." Frank said to her, after putting a hand on her shoulder.

Kate looked up at Frank, but said nothing.

Frank then looked at both Tellka and Kate once again.

"Kate's right. How can we get out of here?" Tellka asked.

Frank had a serious look on his face. "You're not gonna like this, but it's the only option that we have..."

Kate and Tellka looked at each other.

"We're gonna have to fight our way out." Frank said.

"WHAT???" Kate asked in shock.

Frank grinned. "I knew that you wouldn't like it." Tellka looked at him in annoyance.

"It's the only option we have. Otherwise, we'll never get out of here." Frank continued.

"Why don't we just wait? Can't the Rangers get us out?" Kate asked.

"Rangers?" Frank asked.

"They're like the police that you described to us earlier." Tellka answered.

"Ah... Well, if we wait, we'd become easy targets for anything that may get in here, if anything gets in here." Frank answered.

Kate looked to Tellka. "He's right, Kate. We'd never last that long in here. It's also a small place to fight if we do have to." She told Kate.

Kate let it sink in, then she nodded slowly.

Frank had an idea. "Tellka, is there a weapons room here?" He asked.

Tellka looked at him like he had grown another head. "Of course there is! This is a colliseum, after all!" Frank noticed that Kate was chuckling a little.

"Well, that's where we should head first. We're armed, but Kate's not." Frank replied.

Kate looked up when she heard her name. Tellka then began to talk to Frank again.

"We were there yestersay. Kate didn't want a weapon. She wanted to fight with her hands." She replied.

"What about gloves, or claws? Or maybe some brass knuckles. Those would help her fighting style." Frank said.

Tellka was caught off guard by Frank's thought. "I... didn't think of that..." She said quietly. Frank looked at Kate, and she looked uncomfortable.

"You all right?" Frank asked.

"I.. I don't want to use a weapon.. I don't-" Frank cut her off.

"Kate, don't worry. We're only getting you a weapon so that you can protect yourself. You wouldn't last long against a demon if you're unarmed. I mean, I had to fight demons in the hospital earlier with nothing but a mop." Frank heard Tellka laugh, and he turned around to glare at her.

"But you know what, I'm still alive. I'm still here now. Fighting isn't for bullying people around, it's for self defense. That's the first thing that I learned in the Fencing club." Frank said.

Kate looked at Frank, and then at Tellka. Tellka was nodding in agreement with what Frank had just said.

Kate looked at Frank. "Okay... If you say so.." She said. That was what Frank wanted to hear.

"Tellka, can you lead us to the armory? From there, I'll lead on to Redwing's room." Frank said grimly.

Tellka looked at Kate once again. "Yeah, I can do that."

"All right. Kate... here." Frank took his rapier off his belt and gave it to her.

"Kate, use this when you have to. Other than that, be careful." Frank said.

"What about you?" Kate asked.

"I'll use my fists and shotgun until we get to the armory. When we get there, We'll give you a proper weapon and I want my rapier back." Frank explained.

Kate nodded, and took the rapier from Frank.

"Are we ready?" Tellka asked.

"Wait.." Frank said. "We might need some extra help." He then raised an arm into the air.

"Persona change..." He started. "Dragon!" Frank yelled. The same thing that happened earlier happened again when he changed his Persona.

Tellka and Kate were staring at Frank.

"Get used to that. I'll probably be doing that a lot." Frank responded.
