We continued towards the weapon room, Tellka walking infront and Frank and I continued side by side. We had been talking amongst ourselves. Frank was tell me about Lunarvale and I had been mentioning what had happened to me so far in Windia. We had been running into a few monsters periodically, like one instant when Frank had surprised both me and Tellka.
Another group of demons had come out from seemingly nowhere. Tellka had been ready to charge in first when Frank held her back.
"Hold it.." He started.
"Are you nuts?!" Tellka looked over at him. "Those things are going to get the first strink in!" She hissed angrely. I watched.
Wait Tellka, he says to wait, so he must have something planned. I felt Tellka growl in response. I looked over at Frank. "What are you planning to do?"
Frank didn't say anything for a moment. I looked over at the demons. They looked like members of the Angel Clan, but instead, they all had red eyes, waist length silver hair, black wings, and were all females in outfits that, well, left very little to the imagination.
"Human...." The one in the front began to speak. I looked over at Frank and waited to see what he would do.
Frank folded his arms. "What do you want?"
"We were told to hunt you and the other Woren with you..." A shudder ran down my back and I began to grip onto the rapier until I thought my fingers would just fall off. Tellka cluched her staff and seemed to ready herself. The demoness continued. "But we don't want to do harm to you or your friends." I blinked in surprise and exchanged glances with Tellka before looking over at Frank.
"Oh? Why is that?" He asked.
"I don't know... It's this feeling I have.." The demoness said sadly. I watched them for a moment. Suddenly I felt sorry for them. I didn't want to fight either.. infact, I had no idea what I was doing out there with a rapier in my hand at the time. I began to think about that until Frank's singing broke my thoughts.
Singing? Why would he sing? I looked over at Frank. He was.. singing. It was a song I had never heard before. I looked back over at the demonesses and noticed that the one infront seemed to cheer up a little.
"Oh! I haven't heard anyone sing like that before! Could you please continue?" She asked Frank.
I leaned over to Tellka. "Do you really think this is going to work?" Tellka shrugged.
"It's worth a shot."
I thought about that for a moment. "He really isn't a bad singer..." I whispered quietly to Tellka. "And this seems to be helping.." Tellka nodded and glanced up. I looked over to see Frank looking at us. "Go ahead." I urged him to keep singing. "What harm could it do?"
Frank nodded and turned back to the demoness and began singing again. I found I rathered enjoyed the song's he knew, and wondered where he heard them.
"Wonderful!!!" The demoness said in a happy yet interested tone. "Thank you, young man. You have helped us a lot." They were all smiling now. "How can we repay you?" One of them asked.
Frank thought for a moment, and asked, "Can I have your spell card?"
The demoness smiled. "Of course you can! Here, take this as well." The demoness threw Frank a ring with a cat's eye stone. Frank looked at it and nodded before pocketing it. I wondered what that was about.
"Here's my spell card. Take it, and use it wisely." Frank nodded, and I looked up to see a small card floating about him. It looked like it was twirling. He reached up and plucked it out of mid-air.
"Be careful, human. Nathaniel Redwing will not stop until he has your head on a platter." The demoness told him.
"We'll be careful. Thanks." He replied, and the demoness smiled once again and left, while chatting idly with her friends.
"What in the world?" Tellka blinked and gave Frank an odd look.
"I didn't know you could sing like that!" I looked over at Frank.
"That's why I'm in the Drama Clun with Alex." Frank replied. Tellka and I exchanged glances.
"How did you know.." I began to ask.
"It was a gut feeling. I knew that they didn't want to fight." He replied.
"Incredible..." Tellka shook her head. "We're almost to the armory. Let's keep going." She started ahead. I continued walking beside Frank.
Sooner or later, we spotted the Armory ahead. Tellka was farther ahead of us and got there first. She tried the door and glanced over at me, her eyes announcing a little problem. "It's locked."
Oh great.. now what?
"I can open it. It would only take a moment."
But that would mean...
"Yea, I know. I have been thinking about that. Do you think we can trust him?
I glanced over at Frank and thought for a moment. Sure we could, there hadn't been a reason yet why we shouldn't. I nodded to Tellka.
"Kate, what's up?" Frank asked me. He looked over at Tellka, and I watched his mouth drop in shock.
Tellka shifted back into her spirit form and dissapeared behind the door. Frank turned to me.
"Kate, you got some 'splaining to do..." He said to me, in a kind of odd voice. I looked down at the ground for a moment and then back up at him.
"Well, Frank it's like this..." I began but my words were quickly cut off by the hissing of demons. I froze, every one of my furs stood on end and I turned slowly to see where the noise had come from. Bad idea. I watched as about fifteen more red demons approached us quickly. I began to back away and noticed Frank glancing over at me.
"We have one word for this... RUN!!!" Frank yelled. He didn't have to tell me twice. I took off like a rocket, Frank following behind me. Suddenly I felt a rush of pain go up my leg and I fell to the ground gasping in the sudden pain.
"KATE!!!!" I heard Frank yell. He stopped and knelt down beside me.
"Kate!?!" Tellka's own voice seemed to echo in my head.
"My ankle.. I twisted it.." I wasn't sure if I was answering Tellka, or Frank, or maybe just both at the same time. All I knew was that now, not only was I scared, but I was dumb enough to go and get myself hurt. I felt Frank pick me up, cradling me in his arms. I put my arms around his neck, partually to keep from falling, and partually because it just seemed to make me feel safer.
"I'll get you to safety. Don't worry." I heard him whisper.
"Thank you, Frank." I managed to reply. I was aware of the demons gaining around us. Frank took of running, and I think I tightened my grip a bit. But, we made it to the door of the Armory and soon enough I could hear Tellka yelling to us.
"Hurry!!! Get inside!!!" Frank passed her and ran into the room sideways, keeping me from hitting my head. Tellka slammed the door behind us and locked it shut. The sound of the demons banging on the door echoed through the room.
"Are you both OK?" Tellka asked us.
Frank and I exchanged glances and then gave Tellka an annoyed look.
"I guess not..." Tellka sighed and rubbed her head.
